I did enjoy the book, though it's different to books I'd normally choose. It is melancholy and mundane interspersed with interesting stories. The book is emotionally charged and there is hope.

Definitely a winner - love the intertwined stories, the historical story & the real characters

I didn’t like Janice in the beginning, too meek, infuriatingly tolerant of mistreatment. But as her story is revealed, we see her strength and kindness more clearly. Sally Page created a community I would want to be a part of.

Lovely story, easy read. Good character development and surprisingly witty and convincing. Love that the story begins to focus more on the main character rather than the stories she’s collecting and the striking granny character makes it an entertaining read.

This was an enjoyable read. I loved that there were different stories woven within the main storyline. It was a good blend of the two. The author has written this just right to know where you are and which story you are in. I loved the character Mrs B. She was my favourite. She was a delight and created a world of good for the main protagonist to see the light in her life. I’m so glad that she made positive changes. I smiled and chuckled, and some sad moments and choices were made. Despite the sad moments and choices, it was a light read overall. A book that has given me a break from more intense and thought-provoking reads.
