This book was a rollercoaster rating-wise. First, it was a solid four until I hit the halfway mark. It wasn’t my favorite book, but it was a unique one and I decided to bump it up to five for being quite unique. It held my attention and was going to get a low five stars for the intrigue it created. I found myself reading chapter after chapter to find out what happened next. As a result, I was going to give it a five. However, as I read on, it didn’t live up to expectations as it ended pretty abruptly, with not much that I was looking forward to actually happening. This book was one of my first experiences with the dreaded cliffhanger. I just looked back to its Goodreads and Amazon page but don’t see any sort of warning for it.

Overall, it’s worth the read if you know you’re only getting part one rather than book one. Definitely, check it out if you have Kindle Unlimited and can zoom right through. The characters are relatively interesting, spending time in the heroine's head is a cool experience. So I would recommend it under certain circumstances. It’s a shame that it ended so abruptly, it was in line for a pretty good review from me. It still ended up with four stars but it could have been even better with the focus not being on the length or cliffhanger ending but the merits of the book.

There are a few typos but nothing egregious.

The Bride by S. Doyle -  Ellie is 16 and orphaned with a multi-million dollar ranch to run facing a year in foster care, so she decides to marry her ranch foreman who her father treated like a son. Yep it comes with some really awkward problems, but it was a pretty fun little read. My problem is that there is no way this story ends happily ever after without lots of drama because there are more little novellettes and I know how these things work! So now I have to decide if I want to be upset or if I just imagine it all works out HEA with no speed bumps...it might be worth it because I am enjoying these characters! Happy Reading!

Better than I imagined.

Honestly this story ended up being a lot better than I figured it would be. That sounds bad but I haven't had much luck with these Kindle unlimited books. Especially those about teenagers. None of them really seem to capture how a teen talks or thinks, but I think this one got pretty close. She was rambling and smart and curious. Exactly how I remember being in my head in high school.

This is one of those stories you are either going to love it or just kind of like it. I just "kind of liked it". It's a good story, and the writing is decent, but I just don't get the hype of it. It wasn't believable for a YA contemporary romance to me.

I admit it. I judged this book by the cover. I don’t like sweet little hallmark-ish stories. I should have trusted Isabella when she told me how good this series was.

Ellie (16) lives on a working cattle ranch in Montana. She has just lost her father, who didn’t leave a will. Jake (26) is the foreman of the ranch. Jake and Ellie marry so she isn’t forced into foster care, but it’s in name only. When she turns 18, they plan to get a divorce. Jake has a girlfriend.

There is so much to this sweet little story. A quick read at only 151 pages, and when it ends you’ll want immediately download book two.
