A well written autobiography that really makes you appreciate the challenges encountered and get a real feeling for what the team were going through day by team. It was quite tedious to read at times (actually, for large chunks) with how detailed the mundane descriptions of each day sometimes were but it did help to make you appreciate what they were going through.

The easiest 5 stars I’ve ever given, honestly this account is more like 7/5 considering that I already gave Worsley’s account of the Endurance Expedition a 5/5.

This is such an unbelievably incredible story of survival told by Shackleton himself. I’d thoroughly recommend this to anyone, whether or not you’re already familiar with the expedition.

Shackleton's first hand account of how his expedition faired, is much better than his relay of how the Ross Sea party faired. All in all, an incredible tale of perseverance and grit. Frank Wild is the real MVP.

Listening to Shackleton's account of the Antarctic Expedition made my first full Winter in Sweden seem perfectly comfortable.

Shackelton's account is incredibly detailed, but he is not as talented a writer as Worsley. Nonetheless, it's an amazing tale of courage and survival.
