loved it. gruesome at parts, but the whole thing was exactly what I was hoping for when I plucked it off the library shelf. adventure, magic, sisters, secrets, a mystery, bonus Antarctica content????, herbs, women doing 92% of the interesting things in the story. chef's kiss.

Very good, a complete story (with of course a door open for future books). Excellent world building, with well thought out and consistent rules for magic.

I almost put this book down when the beginning was slow but it really grew on me. I mean magic books! But also the characters and the mysteries were well done
