This book was NOT good; I was determined to finish it because I had not finishing books, but I regret all the time I poured into this book. It was nothing like the movie at all, which is sad cause it’s one of my favorite movies. I fell asleep two or three times while trying to read it. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this book to a friend

I had been really looking forward to reading “Legally Blonde”. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. The language seemed one dimensional and flat. As did the characters. There were few characters from the movie within the book. Which may have been kind as to not taint the love I have for the movie characters. Further, Elle, the MC, had few redeeming qualities. It was written from the perspective that Elle was able to do whatever she wanted with no thought to the consequences. While admittedly not getting very far it, the novel did not show much hope of improvement, which ended up being the reason for giving it up. Something that I do with almost no book.
Would recommend: to none

I honestly dove into Legally Blonde for the challenges I'm currently in. It also doesn't hurt that I've seen the movies countless times before finding out about this being a book either. So I'll admit that was a smidge different that the movie but still entertaining. Well, slightly entertaining.
In it, you will meet Elle. Unlike her movie character, she was kind of bland in this one. Which is weird. I mean the beginning of her getting dumped by Warner kind of seemed spot on. Mostly because who takes someone out to a fancy restaurant to dump them? Warner the douche canoe does. At least she got champagne out of it? Eh still kind of sucks.
Then she heads off to law school and meets his new fiancé. I have nothing against Sarah.. but she's no Vivian. Just saying. While at school, she seems to skip classes a whole bunch of times and I don't really remember that happening in the movie. Then there's the case she is working on, which features Brooke, but it just wasn't the same.
In the end, I liked the movie a whole lot more than the book. So I guess I'm glad that I got it out of the way now and can move on with my life.

My first book of 2024 and it's 2 stars for me.
I thought I was going to really enjoy this book, I thought it'd be cute and thought I'd be reading about Elle getting stronger and more confident. Instead, I got Elle borderline stalking her ex and sulking about him the entire book and every time it seemed like she'd finally put herself first, nope, it showed that her next thought was Warner or it was her running to Warner...
While there were some good moments, the author made it pretty hard to like Elle. She slacked off in her studies. This was a huge problem to me since she only went to that school to show Warner how serious she could be and that she could take law studies seriously. Yet, she spends every lesson reading cosmo and vogue or skipping most classes for manicures. Any studying she did was shown as her half listening to a tape her secret admirer sent her.
This book could have also could have benefitted from more details. The case Elle interns for is very rushed with little detail yet it gets introduced around halfway in and the court scene dragged out for around 4-5 chapters, there was still very little detail.
Chapter 29 was my favourite chapter. It was the one where Elle was closest to changing and actually taking law and, more importantly, herself seriously. If the book had kept that up, it would have been so much better! But sadly, it didn't.

Okay, usually the book is almost always better than the movie (in my opinion), but not this time. I don’t actually think this book was bad necessarily, it was honestly pretty okay, but compared to the movie, it’s just not as good. In the movie, Elle’s character was much better and the overall energy of the movie was just better. It was more enjoyable. Compared to that, the book is pretty bland. So, if you’re planning to read this instead of watching the movie, don’t bother. The movie is better.

In some ways I enjoyed this book more than the movie. We saw more of Elle's growth and her struggle to prove herself. We could also see how law school society was so "anti-blonde." But the writing in this book was ho-hum. The prose was static and flat. It could have been so much better.

Picked up to fulfil the prompt of a book turned into a musical. I’m not sure about that concept, but the film has always put a smile on my face. Parts of the book did, but only because I could picture Reese Witherspoon delivering them.
The story is well-known. A school prom queen, not exactly known for her brains, decides to try and win back her man by enrolling at Law School. Obviously, it’s tough and she spends a large amount of time hiding from lectures to go for a manicure. Then she earns a place on the team defending a high profile case…and manages to win the day.
What’s clear from the book is that Elle is not a character that sticks with you. The fact that Witherspoon made her as likeable as she did indicates her warmth as a character. Most of the book was pretty superficial, and this is highlighted by how she cracks the case.
Anyway, prompt complete.
