This is the perfect follow up to the first Endling book! Even more character development for all of your favorites as their adventure continues, but prepare yourself for an emotional ride.
I found myslef cheering aloud and brought to tears for all the right reasons. I cannot recommend this series enough!

Great continuation of the first book I the series. The characters are fleshed out even more, and the world feels a lot more interwoven than before. A really excellent book!!

I really enjoyed the first book in this series last fall. It took me a bit to get into it, but once I did, I found it hard to stop. This book the action starts right away and it was all I could do to keep up! Byx and her friends are trying to find an island that may, or may not have more dairnes on it.... all the while trying to escape from those who are trying to find them, in hopes of making sure Byx is the last of her species.
Applegate has created an amazing world, which I found I had to be very careful when reading to make sure I truly imagined and understood where that part of the story was taking place.
I feel like so much of the characterization took place in the first book so this one could truly be a plot driven story. It really was so hard to put down. The ending is certainly set up for another sequel. I haven't heard anything about it, but I'm ready for it now!

I didn't love this one as much as the first one because I wish there was a bit more character development and not just running from event, to event, to event. I gave it four stars, however, because Katherine Applegate knows how to weave a story that's vivid and enjoyable. There are little nuggets of wisdom sprinkled throughout the book that resonated with me. I will definitely pick up the next one in hopes that it wows me just like the first one did.

Outside my normal genre, but my kids love this series, and we listened to it together on a road trip. Applegate is a skilled writer and her creativity here is on full display. I'm not sure I'll read the other two in the series (this works fine as a standalone book), but it is 100 percent related to my lack of interest in the genre not the book itself.
