According to the description, I should've really enjoyed this story of a movie star and a nerdy heroine. After all, those are two of my favorite tropes. But instead, I was bored. I think part of the problem was the insta-love. But I suspect the larger part of the problem was that it felt like the author didn't put any effort into fleshing out the characters and the plot. I didn't feel like Lana was a rocket scientist because Isley loved nerdiness, but because it was an interesting contrast to Christian's movie star career. I suspect that's because I just finished an Ali Hazelwood book where nerdiness was embedded in every page.
I had more thoughts but GR ate them...

First I'll say, both narrators for the audiobook were fantastic, and I definitely recommend the audiobook format!
It was a cute story, typical rom-com really. But for me, the FMC, Lana, got more and more annoying as the book went on. And I just didn't like how the author made everything Christian's fault, when Lana is the one that was so clueless about everything! Especially in the world where media and advertising is everywhere you look, I'm just not sure it's possible to be so clueless. It seemed like Christian had to mold himself to fit himself into Lana's worldview. Blech. Just a bit cheesy.
I really feel like Lana should have been more devastated at the beginning of the book as well. 10 years is a long time!
I do love that Lana had two fluffy cats though. :)

This was a cute book! Throughout the story It gave me the vibes of Ali Hazelwood maybe it’s because she too writes STEM books. Anyway, the romance between Lana and Christian is cute, I also liked the celebrity romance trope. it’s realistic that Lana would be overwhelmed, but I was glad that she didn’t let that stop her from being with Christian.
Overall this was a cute, closed door, romance that was fun to read!

My rating is between 3.5-4 stars. This is the first rom com I've enjoyed in a while. The premise is a female scientist and celebrity unexpectedly cross paths in a hotel closet. She has no idea he's a celebrity and it goes from there. He tries to keep his identity a secret as long as he can because he loves that she likes him for him instead of because he's rich and famous. This obviously goes spectacularly. The rest of the book once she discovers his real identity is focused on them as a couple navigating the combination of their two different worlds. I thought it was a really cute, quick read. I loved that there was talk of females in STEM. The side characters didn't add much but I think that helped keep the focused on the two main characters and their love story. Would recommend if you want something lighter and fun to read. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
