I love Suzanne Enoch! I already read her Lessons in Love and With This Ring series and adore them both! For a long time they were the only two series translated in my language…

When I saw this book on NetGalley and saw who wrote it, I immediately requested it. I was so excited when I got approved!

And I have to say I love this kind of book when a main character wants to help get another main character with a third person and then in the process, he/she falls for the other person. Some sort of matchmaking or something.

Niall knew since the beginning that he liked Amelia-Rose but he also knew that acting on his feelings is wrong. So he ”helped” his brother by accompanying Amelia to events.

Amelia lived with a very strict mother. She knew that her mother wanted a title to be worth more in the eyes of Society and that she can’t risk falling in love with a handsome Scot no matter what. It bothered her that he didn’t have a title because he was the third son. Through the story, she realizes what she wanted and is ready to risk it all…

I love reading about Scots. Ah, the kilts, the dialect! Unfortunately, I can’t rate it more than 4 stars because

a) the story mentioned like every three pages how ”impossibly green” Niall’s eyes were. I got it the first time, thanks

b) the heroine sounded like a doormat in the first half of the book. She was always mentioning that Niall’s without a title and therefore not a match for her. Obviously, her mother’s saying was a huge impact but honestly, even though she was a spitfire to everyone around her, she just couldn’t stand up to her own mother.

At first, I thought both her parents are the same but at the end, I got the feeling that his father is much more down-to-earth than the mother.
I’m also so excited for Coll’s book – I think it would be great!

ARC provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I always love .... historical romance, so it’s was a sure choice to bought this book. I really liked it, and bought the over two.
After seventeen years of silence, Lady Aldriss summoned her sons in London to respect the engagement she and her husband made. If they still want to perceive money for their land, they have the obligation to wed Englishwoman before the marriage of their sister.
In London, they’d planned to face their mother together, but she has other plans for them et decide to introduce a lady of her choice to Coll the eldest. However, the odds were against this decision.

Niall and Amy are made for each other, despite Coll’s behavior Amy stays strong and fierce. She will not bow, her determination charms Niall who falls for her.

Look at the time, I have to get home and sleep with your brother.
This has the same story (ish) is Say Yes To The Marquess by Tessa Dare. Set to marry the eldest brother but falls for the younger brother instead. I preferred this story though. The writing took a while to get into and to decipher. I liked that Niall was the peace keeper but I found Amelia-Rose lacking in personality. This had decent banter and while I had a good time reading this, I found myself wanting more from it. I wanted more spice, more banter and more from the writing. Not bad just not for me.

I ended up really liking this book. I didn't think I would at first, but I kept going because I was invested in Amelia and Niall. I am glad I did. I really liked that she spoke her mind and that Niall actually valued what she had to say. I did find it hard to understand his accent at first but the I got used to it. I might pick up the 2nd book in the series.

This book is amazing and was a really pleasant reading experience.
It's entertaining, fun to read and you're hooked till the last page.
The start is wonderful, so full of humour and so tongue in cheek, it made me love this book since the first pages.
I appreciated the female characters, so strong willed and anti conformist, and I love the evolution of Amelia Rose, the train of thought that made her understand what she really wanted.
I think I could have a new book boyfriend in Niall, another Highlander that could be defined the king of men.
The entire cast of characters is well written and fleshed out, you cannot help rooting for the brothers and the young couple in love.
I loved the romance as much as I liked the family, friendship and growing-up themes.
I look forward to reading the next installment in this series and will surely read other books by Ms Enoch.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for this ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book, all opinions are mine.

*I won this arc in a Goodreads giveaway. All opinions stated are my own.

One of my main reasons for wanting to set this book on fire is the number of grammatical & punctuation errors. Yes it's an arc, but that's not a good justification. It literally felt as the editor fell asleep at the midway point & decided the book was fine. Last time I checked a run-on sentence doesn't count as a paragraph. The one thing that really got me was the amount of times the word "but" would follow a comma or a semi colon. Can confirm there are other words that can do a better job than the word 'but' can.

My final reason that turned my off the book were the McTaggart men; specifically Coll. He's absolutely despicable, especially to Amelia (pg 44 calls her a harlot after spending less than 5mins w/), & yet his actions are completely brushed aside. Niall even explains his douche-y-ness away as him "being stubborn". Umm no sir your brothers an egotistical buffon.
Niall also doesn't get off scot free. Immediately after Amelia & him kiss once, he only see's her as a prize to be one. even goes out of his way to tell her "I'll convince ye." (pg 201) that they're meant to be. HOW BOUT NO! that's not how you build a healthy relationship. Let the chips fall where they may; you can't manipulate people into falling in love with you. I guess it makes sense when you have sons who were raised by a sociopathic father with a flare for the dramatics.

The one saving grace was Francesca; she is my queen & deserves more respect than was given to her. And I'm not just talking about her horrible pigheaded sons.
