i enjoyed it... but also felt very conflicted about how the stories ended turning out. appreciated the different povs and the discussions of class and religion in the broader political context. also, a base knowledge of Iranian history is definitely needed as the political moments and figures can be confusing otherwise

This might be one for fans of 1,000 Splendid Suns. It also would be interesting for people who want a bit of an introduction to Iran, the story covers the difference between Persia and Iran, the different ethnic groups and religions who live there, the relationship with the Arabic world, the difference between Sunni and Shia, and women’s dress standards.
