This book... oh, there's so much to say! I didn't know about the Red Dwarf TV series until I bought this book, and it made me a fan. Even though the book was written and released after the TV series, I have to say I like it more because it has a darker tone than the TV series ever did. The novel gets a full five stars because of its melancholic ending, despite the fact that I like happy endings.

- This is one of the most hilarious books I've ever read. I literally burst out laughing multiple times.
- There's constant suspense created throughout the book. I was left clueless quite a lot of times. The authors treat their readers like kids by showing candy as a form of resolution and snatch it away as we're about to get it.
- I found that the idea of the characters meeting humans, any kind of humans was overpowered by the idea of them wanting to meet girls.
- Speaking of girls, the lack of women characters is just appalling. I can literally count all female characters on one hand.
- I didn't end up feeling any sympathy towards the characters; maybe that's what the authors wanted. But I did feel a solid connection to the overall story.
- If I'd read the blurb, I wouldn't have been as shocked by the 3 million years thing as I actually was.
- 3.9/5

Red Dwarf has long been a favorite show. The adventure of Lister, Rimmer, Cat, and Kryton are some of the best sci-fi around. Like the time with the walking sausuage that wasn’t really a sausage. Or Kryton’s parts. Or Cat’s coolness. Or Lister’s devotion to Chrissie.
And Holly, who can forget Holly.
This audio book is read by Chris Barry who played Rimmer. If you haven’t seen Red Dwarf (which makes you in violation of numerous space mining codes), you know him perhaps from the Tomb Raider movies where you played Lara Croft’s butler.
He’s really good at nailing everyone else’s voices.
The novel has plots from the first season of Dwarf and includes the theme song. There is more of Lister’s back story and the first meeting between Rimmer and Lister is a must read (or listen).
And the last bit, the last bit is just so . . .just so wonderful.

Fun. Weird. If you are a fan of Hitchhikers Guide, you'll probably like this odd, futuristic space voyage!

So hilarious and the audiobook version spoken by Chris Barrie is absolutely masterful. Only four stars because it doesn't pass the Bechdel test.

My copy of this is quite odd, it was bound incorrectly so that chunks of the pages are in the wrong order. Nevertheless, I struggled on to read one of the best books based on a television series (or, perhaps, the other way around).

This was a pure walk down Nostalgia lane.
What I expected - Rimmer being Rimmer, Lister being Lister and Cat being all around fabulous.
And I got all that.
What I didn't expect - to feel compassion for Rimmer! How dare you, Grant! I din't give you premission to make me think of Rimmer as a human being!

All in all a wonderful quick read. Recommend to anyone who watched the TV series and anyone who likes SF.
