I really liked this book. I really enjoy the audio books in this series. I sometimes get lost in the details at points. I really enjoyed not only the plot but also the characters various paths in this story. It was a much quicker read this time. I loved the focus on tris and also how the mages grew as friends. I did not see the twists towards the end of the book coming. I am excited to start book 3 :)

God I love this book. It does such a good job at capturing the feeling of a child traumatized by family, it was very relatable to child me.

no offense, but tris is not my favorite of the four kids
still, super cool cause they're so powerful

A fun, mostly light story. They dealt with harder things in this book, like the consequences of Tris losing control of her powers. But in the end, good always wins, bad always gets what it deserves. Looking forward to continuing the re-read of this series!

I enjoyed this book much more than the first of the Circle of Magic quartet. The characters are becoming more distinct, and the dynamics of their relationships are changing, bringing them closer, though there still seems to be a bit of remaining apprehension between them. The magic is complex, but does seem a little too easy to execute for the kids given that they're still supposed to be in the beginning stages of learning about their abilities, and the craft descriptions are still slightly excessive to me. Though this book had a more clear plot to it than the previous one, and I'm curious about next one in the quartet, I'm still not sure where this series is actually going and what the general climax is supposed to be/what the children are working towards.

WHOOPS I read this all in one go, literally no one is surprised ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(On a more serious note: I love how Tammy makes these four kids face consequences. Also, it's so fun to go back to this "just learning everything" phase of their lives? They're always learning, of course, but it's so NEW to them in this quartet.)
