A decent translation, though Bond admits to removing the poetic nature of the German dialogue in preference to what he considers to be more speakable.

**uni read - lit in context**
This play is a very confusing read, and made me lose the plot line a number of times, particularly in the second half of the story, considering the descent from realist into modernist.

I quite liked Jonathon Franzen’s translation — it felt a little more modern compared to other translations I’ve read, the language less stilted.

A rollercoaster through the tragedies of adolescence.
