I went into this book not knowing at all what to expect. I had seen the teasers and all the promo for the book and my interest was definitely peaked. However, I am not one to blindly follow an author without having read their work. That being said, I am definitely a fan. This was a great debut. It had everything. It had suspense, angst, humor, and definitely some hot romance. Janny is feisty and independent and I loved her and Kyle is alpha male personified. I loved reading about both of them. The author definitely drags you into their world and keeps you hooked. Once I picked up this book, I did not want to put it down and trust me, you will not see the twists coming. The ending floored me and I absolutely cannot wait to read more. Jacob Chance is definitely an author to watch out for.

Hot, naughty PI watching...
Voyeur behavior is considered naughty and Kyle is definitely naughty. As a private investigator, Kyle has to watch a lot of different people, places, and things do down. But one look at her has him doing and thinking things he shouldn't.
It's a fun, quick story with some naughty scenes. But be aware this is part one and ends in a cliffhanger...

I'm not going to lie, i was looking forward to this after seeing it splashed all over facebook. Finally a Contemporary written by a guy.
However, everything in this book is about speed. Everything happens so fast its unbelievable. The opening grabs your attention but then drops back to some weeks before and then it all goes to pot. The character feels like a teenager meeting the pornstar he's lusting over and doesn't know how to posses what he's feeling. If it had taken it's time and tried to be a little more believable, i might have enjoyed it more but i found myself just shaking my head and asking what kind of man are you?
Just a warning, this does have a cliffhanger ending, there is a snippet of the next book so it feels a little pointless.

There was so much hype about this book that I really anticipated reading it, but I had a problem with several aspects of this book.
Kyle seems like a good guy who's had hard times and you sympathize with him, but when he spots Janny at the house where he's investigating her brother and happens to have cameras in every room, including the guest room where she's staying, it's a creepy meet. He becomes obsessed with her after he watches her pleasure herself. Kyle thinks that it's destiny when they happen to meet by chance, twice, and start dating and it's hot and heavy for a while. There's no real connection, other than sex and no real conflict, other than the internal struggles of Kyle. Also, I understand it's hot when a man takes control in bed, Kyle's demands seem off in some way. Angry and not sexy.
By the end, Janny is kidnapped and there is an attempted rape, I mean they get really close and she is violated, which is far from something you want to read about in a romance novel. When she is saved and the next time she and Kyle have sex, there's no real connection, no real sympathy from Kyle and yet they fall in love. I look for an immediate connection between the hero and heroine when I read a book, but I felt that Kyle and Janny's relationship is superficial and a bit creepy.
The last annoying thing is that it ends on a cliffhanger. I will not be reading the next in the series.

This was a quick and steamy read. Perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon. It does end in a cliffhanger, but not with where the MCs relationship is. They are a couple at the end of the book.
I NEVER read male authors but I took a chance and I'm glad. This book is super steamy! Great sex scenes that weren't glazed over or disappointing. Where I had trouble was the connection between the H & h. Yes, they had chemistry, but I wanted more lovey dovey stuff so I knew how much they loved each other. (I've never felt more like a girl than after writing that last statement) I also didn't LOVE the heroine. Eh.
Spoiler shit:

She has a detailed scene where her ex is getting her off while getting himself off. This is right after she meets the Hero but before anything substantial is formed between the two.brittanyreads07's review

The debut novel by Jacob Chance was a good one! From the synopsis alone, I was intrigued as to where the relationship between a stalking P.I. and an unsuspecting college student would go. The romance between the two takes off once they meet and the author delivers some hot as sin sex scenes!
What I wasn't prepared for was the suspense element! I was pleasantly surprised by how great Jacob was able to blur the lines between romance and suspense in his debut novel. As my heart began to race, questioning what would happen next, I realized that was my favorite part of the book.
Chance's writing style was one I really loved. He didn't just write the words for a story; He was able to give me those descriptive details needed to visualize exactly what was happening. Jacob Chance provided it all in his debut novel: suspense, romance, hot sex, and a little bit of drama.
Quake was well-written and flowed smoothly from start to finish. I can't wait to see where book two leads because this talented new author definitely left me craving for more.

It had SOMETHING going for it, but not much. Towards the end I felt the writing ended up a little... bad? I'm 100% cool with cliff hangers and I didn't mind the ending, it was the lead up to the last scene that I hated. It was big chunky paragraphs of jumping through time and thoughts and it felt super choppy just to get to the cliff hanger? Really I know quite know why people are complaining about said cliff when the next book is previewed at the end, it explained enough for me to be interested in more if I had have liked this book more.
Kyle was creepy as fuck. I'm usually cool with possessive but this dude is legit whacking it to video feeds of her before he's met her. That's so not okay for me. If they'd met beforehand my creepy self probably could have justified it a little more but not this way.
I also found it was super 'convenient'. Need a hero? Kyle will do it just in the nick of time! Even just how they meet is the same. The classic bump and save from falling to the floor. I was also confused upon reading on the actual drama bit. I went BACK and reread the explanation as to who the 'bad' person was, and it still felt unemotional I guess you'd say. Kyle never came across as angry, just relieved he had his girl back.
Anyway, I'm not giving it a 1 because it had a little bit of promise, I just found too many things unbelievable and the writing to be a lot less flowy than it should have been. I also wasn't a fan of it coming across as them telling the story to me, a few times it was just explained AT me rather than describing things and letting me form the scene myself if that makes sense? I am a little confused at the high average rating for this book, but maybe it was just me...
