Better than in the woods but still disappointing. Its like french puts in too much information with no payoff and drags the books out to the point of frustration.
Going to try 1 more in this series then let it go if there's no payoff in that one too.

A truly original story of an undercover detective, Cassie, who becomes emotionally involved with her latest case - a murdered woman who is an identical stranger to Cassie. As Cassie goes undercover as the murdered victim, she finds unexpected camaraderie with the housemates to the point where Cassie wants to adopt the undercover life as her own. But who killed the victim, why, and will they try to kill Cassie while she’s undercover for the victim? There are many twists and turns along the way. The last quarter is gripping.

I loved this book! I was unsure about it, because typically I don't like detective books. This book had me on the edge of my seat pretty much the whole time. I would recommend this to anyone! I hadn't read the prequel to it, as the author references it a few times throughout, but In the Woods wasn't a requirement to read this!

Reading this mystery felt like watching characters I fell in love with walk a tightrope. Along the way, French manages to make some astute observations about the human condition while making you wonder if there are any villans in this story. The Dublin ambiance is perfect, as is the protagonist's multi-faceted identity crisis. #mystery

I am getting all the Tana French hype now.

THE LIKENESS is read by Heather O'Neill and was an utterly absorbing mystery.

I am working my way through this series and I was initially a bit worried about the length of this one. At 22 hours, I wasn't sure I would be able to keep track of the moving parts in audio. I was needlessly cautious. O'Neill did a phenomenal job with it.

This next installment of the Dublin Murder Squad series had Cassie as the main character, and I loved the deep dive into her story. What an amazing premise, too, to have a doppelganger as the victim. Cassie must infiltrate a group of housemates as the victim to discover what happened...all while staying out of danger.

This will be a book that I will be looking for on @pangobooks to add the physical copy for my shelf. The writing is gorgeous and emotive. I was happily moving much more slowly in my work day as I listened, but need to have this in my hands.

This book cements my fan status of French. Her literary style of mystery storytelling is superb.

I am quite happy that the @wichitalibrary has this available through @libby.app and now off to grab the next one!
