I liked the story, the plot was a little unexpected. Sparks does a great job of reeling you in to the relationships and evokes so may emotions as the book develops. But, I was so hoping for Maggie getting some sort of happy ending knowing what was set up by the beginning of the book.

the book deserved 3.5 stars but did not deserve a round up to 4 stars.
the good:
- i really enjoyed how this book was written. the writing was beautiful!! writing style was reminiscent of “me before you”.
- generally a good plot
- a tear jerker, but did not leave me sobbing
- was meant to be a commute read but i couldnt put it down.
the bad:
- (ik im literally an example of this BUT) just found out im not a fan of love stories happening at 15-17 yrs old??? i felt like i would have appreciated their love story more if they weren’t in high school or expanded more into their adolescence
- although i said it was a good plot, it was very typical. i feel like ive read/watched so many version of this book. there was nothing special about the plot itself.
- only one plot twist which was also very predictable.

While the characters are fun and interesting, I was able to guess the ending of the book about a third of the way through and after that I quickly lost interest. Just not that captivating of the story, honestly. Definitely not a complicated read.

Aangrijpend en emotioneel, maar ook hartverwarmend en hoopvol. Praktisch in één ruk uitgelezen!

I felt it was a typical Nicholas Sparks book, heavy with sadness. Slow reading and predictable story. It was difficult to push through as it was a bit flat and didn’t interest me much.
