Okay, this book is completely adorkable. The main characters, Rachel and Kyle, are ridiculously loveable, their banter is hilarious, and I spent a huge portion of the book like this:

Though I also spent some of it like this:

#famous is an extremely fast read--both because the writing is just so smooth and the story so fast-paced, and because it's extremely addictive and practically impossible to put down once you start!

Stretch your face muscles before you read this one, because you'll spend a huge amount of time grinning like an idiot. At two complete dorks. Who have to deal with fame suddenly being thrust upon them. And who are utterly adorable.

No. Just no. I am stopping with this book, I just can't see how this book will continue for 40% more. I can't imagine that the homecoming or all the dramarama needs that much time in the spotlight.

I already started to notice it around 30% in, I was wondering how in heaven's name this story would continue, for me it felt pretty much like it was almost done. Sure, there were some points that still had to be solved, but I could see that being finished in 10-20%. So yeah, the story dragged on. The same stuff over and over again. It just got boring. *yawns*

I also couldn't see why anyone would like Kyle. He is such, as his friend said, a tool. OMG I am famous, let me do stupid things that hurt Rachel, who already feels crappy (and yes, on the one hand it is her own fault, who the hell makes a picture of a hot guy and posts it online, did she not get a social media course at school or something? But on the other hand no one deserves what comes over her). Everyone was telling him that Rachel was having a hard time, that she was being bullied, being threatened, and it wasn't until 57% that he finally opened his eyes and started to check out what was going on. 57% people. 57 PERCENT. I was just rolling my eyes so hard at this stupidity. I get that he might not want to check stuff, but if your friends, and others tell you shit is going down, I would check.
I really didn't get why he couldn't see she was hurting, how blind are you?
I also found him quite bland. I guess he is just mostly pretty and nothing else? Which is just a shame, if he was a bit more rounded, or a bit more interested, but oh no, he is the gorgeous guy and other than that it isn't important.

Rachel. Sometimes I really doubt teenagers these days, I know this is mean, but who the hell thinks it is a good idea to post a picture of someone else on the internet and doesn't expect that it might just blow up. It is the internet, come on. An older person who didn't grow up with the net I can imagine making such a mistake, but a teenager? A girl whose whole life is about internet, about connectivity? No.
I also frankly got really tired of her constant OMG I am not pretty, OMG I am fat, OMG I don't deserve such a cute guy routine. I get it. I know the feeling, but really, do we need to get it over and over again, it is not giving me a pretty picture for the girl.
I also wished she would grow a pair of balls and just said something to Kyle. But I guess the OMG I still love him (even though I couldn't still why) feeling just took the focus and she forgot about everything else.

Mo, my lord, I hated that girl from the start and she didn't get any better. The way she reacted, and acted towards Rachel and her problems? What the hell is wrong with you that, when your best friend comes to you feeling crappy, your first option is that this might be a good thing because now you might get that prestigious place? And she kept on talking about that place, ALL THE TIME. It just felt highly inappropriate and I wondered if she could understand how Rachel felt (according to her, yes because of her colour and the fact she was also bullied, but I am sorry, but I don't think you know, otherwise you wouldn't keep on pushing your friend like this all the time).

Then there is Emma. At times she seemed OK, but I never could get a feel on what she really was. Is she mean? Is she nice? Is she in this for the fame? Is she in for Kyle? What is going on with this girl? She kept popping up all the time.

What more? I am just terribly sad, I was really looking forward to this book, and the first chapters were pretty great, and I was thinking this would become a favourite. But it turned out to be a dud. :(

This book is seriously adorable! It's books like this that are getting me interested in the YA contemporary genre. Sure, it felt cliched at some points, but that didn't take away from the story at all. Quick enjoyable read!

This type of format: not a fan.

That said, I had fun with this book. It does well to portrait the bullying one may suffer from, but not everyone is as strong as Rachel. Kyle was an oblivious dumbass, but the story is still cute.

Gave 3 stars because while I enjoyed the story, I found the writing style a bit irritating. Would still recommend though.

Quite The Novel Idea ~ Words from the Clouds

Well I am a giant puddle of disappointment over here. On one hand, I could have expected it?? But on the other hand, also not?? Because there was a lot of potential here and it could've been supercute and adorable. And it was a tiny bit? But it was also predictable in a bad way? So now I am sad because I wanted fluff and cute but I didn't get it and I feel like sulking. But I suppose I should tell you why I am so grumpy right now.

So while this book was in fact a tiny bit of cute and I liked that the internet was a big part of it and showed how dangerous it can be and how mean people on the internet can be. Because that's a real thing and it's relevant so I liked that it showed that. Also just the use of social media in a contemporary book is awesome because it's also so very relevant and makes us relate more. But sadly both of these things come with negatives and that is why this book isn't rated any higher. So let's get into the not-very-good parts, shall we?

While, yes, this book was a tiny bit of cute, I wanted it to be a whole lot cute and adorable and fluffy. And instead it was just cliche and predictable and boring. It felt like a horrible Disney Channel Original movie and I LOVE those movies. But this would feel like a bad one. Because I knew exactly what was going to happen all the time and that took a lot out of my enjoyment of this book. It didn't help that the writing felt meh and that sometimes the pacing was off and I didn't feel like the two POV's were distinct enough.

I liked Kyle and Rachel together sometimes but I didn't care. At all. I hoped to relate to Rachel but I didn't. Instead I was super annoyed by her and she didn't change at all near the end and I just didn't care. She was just so bland to me and sometimes all over the place. Like one moment she's this person and the next she's completely different. Kyle was okay but he also felt very bland and boring. The stuff with Emma was just overdone and not necessary at all. Needless to say I didn't really care for the romance.

And lastly I want to say that while I applaud the use of internet and social media in contemporary, I also think it wasn't done right here. I mean... Yeah it's a bit ridiculous that a stupid picture can cause someone to get famous overnight but hey the world is nuts these days in that regard so who knows? What bothers me is actually something really stupid maybe. And that's the use of fake social media. Just use the real one. I don't know what this fake thing is. I can't relate with it. And it's super obvious you're basing it off Twitter. And it was also kind of a tiny bit obvious that the talkshow woman Laura was based on Ellen. So yeah. Why not use the real one? It just bothers me. Plenty of books use the real social media so why can't this one?

I am all of the grumpy today and I don't like it. So I'm gonna end this review here and hope my next read is better. Overall this was a very boring, predictable and cliche book to me and honestly at times I felt a bazillion times too old for it. Don't mind me. I'm just going to sulk a bit more.

It's your typical cliche American high school drama with some added glamour...but it's sweet, I guess like most of the rest of them.

Well-structured story about a phenomenon that actually happens bringing people together. Overnight internet fame for Kyle, who she "Flits" a picture of brings Rachel a journey of self-discovery. Many romance-reading YA readers will find this tame, but those who are "reading up" may feel scandalized.

_you might not want to read past this point.

This book is structured exactly as the reader would expect if they follow modern books. There's even a wise black friend to give Rachel advice at almost exactly 78% into the story. It begins with Rachel not seeing herself fit in and ends with a boy. This is a perfectly serviceable book. I finished it. I don't have much more to say.

In the (infuriatingly annoying) style of one of the main characters...
Plot: meh... though entertaining
Characters: bland
Writing style: like nails on a chalkboard

I appreciate the idea behind the book... but It isn't really for me.

It's "Alex from Target the YA Novel" and it is so adorkable. Rachel and Kyle are both adorkable dorks and I love them. Fantastic story, fantastic characters, fantastic writing, just... #fantastic.
