I really love the way Annie Ernaux writes. I like the simplicity of her language, there is nothing artificial and still it is very touching. She manages to say more about her father and his life in a little over 100 pages than some writers in 500.

Almost detached portrait of the author's father and his simple life...humble and simply beautiful book.

Still well-written and thoughtful, although I found myself less engrossed with A Man’s Place than I was with A Woman’s Story. In a sense it just felt like Ernaux had a little bit less to say) about her father’s life relative to her mother’s but still felt a need to write a memoir in his memory, which is fair and understandable. Three stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️
