A sweet story very much like any of the Alexander Mccall Smith books. Set in India, a matchmaker arranges introductions with the restraints of caste, dowery, religious sect, family status .. all the things that make or break a happy marriage??

Very light and fun, I enjoyed reading it. However, you can tell that it is a first novel and the author does a lot of telling rather than showing. I learned a lot about the culture, though, and enjoyed reading about Mr. Ali's adventures as a matchmaker.

Surprisingly good read! A bit fairy-tale-ish, but overall an enjoyable light-hearted read.

It wasnt the kind of story that i expected. I also think that bc of the way that its fomatted it shouldnt be considered a romance book 🫤

It really is a cross between Pride and Prejudice and Number One Detective Agency in its quaint style.

A very enjoyable, easy read! It was a little bit like an Indian Jane Austen novels with lots of subtle observations and great characters. It also provided a very slight insight in to modern Indian marriage culture

At first I thought it was going to be an Indian version of "A Tree Gorws in Brooklyn," where there isn't really a story arc, per se, but rather a depiction of daily life. Then I let myself be okay just visiting a culture with some beautiful clothes and mystery foods and a story arc did emerge. It was a nice, absolutely rated G book, and I would read another of this author's works.
