Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up with Me by Mariko Tamaki

This is the most boring graphic novel I've ever read. It sucks. I wish I could give it 0 stars if possible - the 1 star may be just for the nice art and that's all the good I have to say about this book. Because the story, the characters, and the 'theme' are all crap. I couldn't connect with any of the characters or further understand the sense behind their actions and feelings. Hard topics are handled very superficially.

The blurb really pulled me in, so I gave this a read. While it wasn’t what I was hoping for, I did still enjoy this story. The plot was simple but interesting, though in the end it went in a direction I wasn’t expecting. I didn’t not like it, but I didn’t necessarily hate it either.
I think the main issue for me in reading this was the information the reader is missing. Given that this is a short story, we obviously might not pick up on everything, but I felt that too much was left unexplained about this world. I scratched my head here and there.
Overall, this is a fun, short read that might take you 30 minutes or so. It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely worth a quick departure from the world of reality.

This is one of the best graphic novels I've read so far! I've been reading a lot of LGBT graphic novels recently but I didn't like any of them so I didn't have high expectations for this one too. But I was wrong, it was really good! It kinda felt like Heartstopper Ari looks so much like Charlie and Hector looks like Nick even their personalities are kinda the same this is what made me like it even more! Anybody who likes slice of life, romance, or LGBT stories you're going to love this. Highly recommended.

I absolutely loved this sweet story! It's a charming and quick read with some very deep points about deciding your future for yourself and not comparing your progress to others that I really appreciated. I absolutely loved the art in this graphic novel too!. The illustrations are lovely, the overall color palette is great, and the art just adds so much warmth and loveliness to the story. I would wholeheartedly recommend this, especially if you're looking for something short and sweet!

While I really like the idea of graphic novels and such a visual storytelling medium and want to love them, I often get overwhelmed or frustrated by graphic novels when trying to read one. This was NOT the case with The Prince and the Dressmaker. It's a beautiful story with a lovely art style, some clever plot twists and a great ending. The setting of Paris is brought to vivid life, and the characters are wonderfully expressive. Strongly recommended for those who like fairy tales or coming-of-age novels.

This is a very short graphic novel story that goes through the highs and lows of a relationship between two young girls. Despite my love of coming of age books, I am left feeling incredibly underwhelmed. While the art is pretty enough and used effectively, the story and how it's told is entirely generic and uninspired to the point I felt as if I was reading little more than a template design for the sort of book this is trying to be.

I've read "I like this part" by Tillie Walden before and I didn't like it so I wasn't sure if I wanted to read anything by this author again. But I picked this one anyway and it wasn't really good but it was slightly better than the other one I've read.
A powerful short story about figuring out where you belong, finding yourself and understanding that you are enough. The artwork is moving and goes so well with the story.

This book is absolute garbage. It's gross, inappropriate and disgusting. It deserves zero stars. If this was for straight people, it would be labeled 'porn'. But, since it's not....it's considered 'art'. This is very disturbing!

I am going with two stars because all the stories end too abruptly and leave you with a sense of disappointment. In fact, I thought maybe I skipped pages by mistake or maybe the ebook was missing some pages when the first tale ended. The whole book just felt weird...
