Very Bad Company by Emma Rosenblum

This was… weird. What genre was it supposed to be?
The audiobook was good, narrator was good. Way too many characters to keep track of.

Dear Edward by Ann Napolitano
4.0
Wow, what a heavy, terrifying, heartbreaking book. This book will definitely stand out as a super original concept, but the pull of the emotions fell a little flat for me. I think because of the alternating views between past and present timelines, I often found myself being sucked out of the emotional spiral I was in because of the past timeline. I found the amount of characters way too confusing and hard to keep track of, which really took me out of the overall story. I understand the reason for wanting to give the other passengers their own stories, but it took a lot away from the overall in my opinion.
I did find the pacing quite slow, and I think the flashbacks contributed to that as well. I will say though that despite all of this, I really enjoyed the journey we went on with Edward. It was emotional without being solely depressing and the end really left me feeling hopeful and positive instead of just sad. Would recommend but won't be a favourite.

If Something Happens to Me by Alex Finlay
4.0
Definitely a case of waiting way too long to write a proper review so this will likely be short and sweet. Alex Finlay books are always a hit for me, while they may not totally blow me away they're thoroughly enjoyable and exciting to read. This book felt a little over the top, but it was just enough that it was still entertaining and kept me on my toes.
How to End a Love Story by Yulin Kuang
4.0
The cover of this book and the title will make you think it's a sweet, typical rom-com but don't go into it thinking it's that. While this book was steamy and sweet, there was so much more to it including a trauma bond between the two main characters.
This was a real life romance. Meaning it wasn't too fluffy and a little unrealistic to make the reader smile, but instead full of angst and characters who feel real with real problems. I can't believe this was a debut and am looking forward to more from this author!

Have You Seen Her by Catherine McKenzie

I don't really have any idea what happened in the first half of the book because I really didn't care about all the talk about climbing and whatnot. There were also way too many characters to keep track of at first and it took me almost the entire book to figure out who was who and I still think I'm confused.
I will say the last maybe 20% had some really interesting messages and ones I think were important, but it was just done in such a weird way. I don't want to say much more so I don't spoil anything, but that's why I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 2. On to the next.

What Wild Women Do by Karma Brown

I was simply not the target audience for this book. I struggled so hard through the first 50 pages, then I put it down for over a month. The audio became available and I was able to push through it on audio, otherwise I would have never finished it.
I liked the current day timeline, with the mystery and the characters personal plot line, but the history timeline and plot really lost me and all of my interest. The writing was absolutely wonderful, but I just wasn't the audience for it.

Home Is Where the Bodies Are by Jeneva Rose

I'll openly admit it here - Jeneva Rose redeemed herself here with this book. I swore I'd never read another of hers, but the audio came up and I figured why not.
It was good. It wasn't great or mind blowing and I've honestly already forgotten most of the plot, but I do remember being surprised and pleased with it and not totally bored, angry or frustrated with the book. Bravo, I guess. I might give her another shot now.

The Sweetest Connection by Denise Williams

Short and sweet, I loved the airport setting and while the characters weren't awful, I didn't enjoy them all that much. I think I might just not vibe with this author's characters and plot lines anymore, but her writing is still wonderful!
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins

I have absolutely no idea what happened in this book. But I'm pretty sure it was nothing.
