loooove the imagery of this play .... just really love a good tragedy. super intriguing approach to the biblical elements as well, and i loved salomé as a character.

i just think wilde's essays are terribly interesting to read. something that one should keep in mind while reading, though, is what kind of person wilde is. you can't ever know how much of what he wrote here he actually believed, politically speaking. he very much could've just been rambling a bit. love that about him! i quite like reading about his views on individualism, socialism, anarchism, art, and more. this was super intriguing to me, but i don't think it's for everyone just because wilde's tone isn't for everyone.

i love this little story so much 😿💗 i'm always impressed by really well executed short stories, and this is one of my favorites. wilde is so good at putting so much emotion into such a small number of pages. absolutely adore the way he writes about love. beautiful and sad at the same time ♡

a story about mr w.h. (willie hughes), and therefore also about shakespeare's sonnets. i quite enjoyed reading wilde's take on this, despite the fact that this isn't my favourite piece of his. that's purely because i'm not as into it thematically. the writing is still amazing and the story intrigued me ^^

so entertaining and clever, starting with just the title and the earnest / ernest play on words. i always think stories with a character living a double life are fun so i'm not surprised i liked this. i also love oscar wilde's work, plays included. i enjoyed the commentary on morality and marriage, wilde is so good at critiquing the victorian upper class in an amusing way.

a lovely read. i won't comment on it too much just because i'm not in a rambling mood right now, but i might add to this review sometime later. anyway, this has everything that an amazing donna tartt novel has. thematically perfect + writing so good that it's breathtaking + such amazing characters with great development and you feel like you truly know them + a perfect storyline from start to finish. i don't love this as much as the secret history (that would be difficult to achieve) but it's still amazing, and my second favourite donna tartt book ^_^

liked the formatting and it's fine thematically, but that's about it. overall, it didn't do anything for me emotionally. it's entirely because of the style which i found to be very flat and boring. it's unfortunately a trend in modern poetry, and i wish i liked this trend more sometimes.
