I Was Here by Gayle Forman

♡ I failed her in life. But I won't fail her in death ♡

I've read If I Stay, Where She Went and Just One Day by Gayle Forman. So let me tell you, this didn't feel like one of her books. I'm not saying this in a bad way because I Was Here had my full attention from the first page.
This book is heavy because it deals with mental illness and suicide. It's an emotional journey for Cody, our protagonist, who lost her best friend who committed suicide (this is not a spoiler).
This is a beautifully written book and it seems to me that is another alert for how serious mental illness are when they aren't diagnosed or poorly diagnosed.
I liked it very much, the characters were great and the ending was satisfying. The only thing I didn't liked that much was the romance, it could have been more elaborated but I understand it wasn't the focus of this book.
When I saw the title of this book, I immediately thought of the song I Was Here by Beyoncé and I think it could apply to this book.

♫ I want to say I lived each day, until I died
I know that I had something in, somebody's life
The hearts I have touched, will be the proof that I leave
That I made a difference, and this world will see

I was here...
I lived, I loved
I was here... ♫

Fast pace, very quick read.
Coming of age story, very family oriented. It was nice and had it's cute moments but nothing amazing.

This book held so much promise!! I think I just had too much expectations. Even though for most part I enjoyed it, it felt too long for me.
I liked the characters, I connected with them and also got a few surprises. The plot is really good but it lacks romance for me. I didn't think there was much of a cliffhanger, still I'm curious to read the next.

♡You are all the colors in one, at full brightness♡
Theodore Finch is now one of my most adored male characters. If you loved TFIOS, I'm sure you gonna like this one. This book gave a new meaning to the word 'wander'. It is very well written and I felt connected with the characters. I fell in love with Finch's and Violet relationship from the start. I like to imagine their song to be Just Another Girl or Here With Me by The Killers.
Be prepared for everything...the laughs, the smiles, the heartbreak, the tears...but it's so worth it :)

First things first...THAT ENDING...omg...cliffhanger...I need the next book asap.
I picked up this book because I thought the plot was really funny. It did not disappoint me, it actually surprised me since this was a Wattpad story.
If I had to describe this book, it is a mix between Sophie Kinsella and Colleen Hoover.
I enjoyed all the characters and connected to them.
Cannot wait to read the sequel!
