Interesting and well written, but I think this author's style isn't for me. I always want to like her books more than I do, and I can't quite put my finger on what leaves me wanting. Anyway, I did like the way this wove the turtle story through the human pandemic story, and there's lots of very charismatic turtles! Probably a good fit for a different reader.
I checked this audiobook out on a recommendation of Jason Isaacs as the reader, and he was wonderful. But I forgot that I'm not a big Bond fan, and I got bored. Probably won't try this one again.
Great audiobook readers and compelling lead character. I really enjoyed the interspersed fairy stories and the slow build found family threads. The ending felt a little abrupt, but seeing it's the start to a series makes sense.
I was looking through old photos for a Christmas gift this year, and I found a copy of this book in my stuff. It has an inscription from my 4th birthday, so I gave it a reread and it was such fun! I remember so many of the illustrations (I really found the angry octopus scary as a little kid), and it's just funny and sweet. The zebra and alligator are probably my favorite. I'm glad I found it again!
The art is fantastic and I really liked the characters. The story felt a bit light, but it's a relatively quick read with a few fun twists. Might be a good fit for Stranger Things fans.
Super cute art, and a sweet little story. As an adult reader, I don't think I liked it enough to gift it to our nieces, but the shark illustrations are really lovely!
This was an interesting read with a bit of a twist I didn't expect. I don't quite know how I feel about the premise after reading the end, but the art is really lovely. I also really enjoyed Adora's character. Kind of on the fence about whether I'd recommend this to patrons though.
The first time I read this it threw me for a loop because I didn't realize it was set before Network Effect chronologically. I'm slow to pick-up on context clues sometimes. Anyway, on reread, I really loved the detective story feel of this one. These are such comfort reads for me!
This is a really sweet and happy read! I love the cut-out style art and just how excited each bit of text and picture feels. Would definitely read this with our nieces.
The art is so lovely! The story had some great moments, but it felt a bit less like a story than a small collection of vignettes. But maybe that's just me as an adult reader. I think there's lots of fun things to spot in the pictures and the recipe included on the back cover is a great touch. I may buy this for our nieces. Super cute and sweet.
