The Reptile Room by Lemony Snicket
4.0
It was my second time reading this and it was fantastic!! I really wanted it to work out with Uncle Monty but alas it is called the Series of Unfortunate Events
Brain on Fire: My Month of Madness by Susannah Cahalan
4.0
Okay so I needed some time to think about this novel and here is why I liked it so much:
-It scared me in a way I didn't think was possible. I can't even begin to imagine what I would do if I was in Susannah's shoes. To be perfectly normal and then completely lose your mind is not something that is easy to deal with.
-I loved her narrative of her experience and how it started small but then turned into this entirely bizarre experience. It literally made my skin crawl.
-The technical side of this book was amazing. I mean I was absolutely drawn to all the psychological and medical terms that she used. I heard of some of them before, but this book definitely pushed me to do research of my own.
-I loved the fact that she made us question the medical field in the sense that a lot of doctors are overworked and don't have the time to give each patient thorough examinations. It illustrates how so many diseases go unnoticed or become misdiagnosed.
-I loved hearing about her recovery as much as I loved reading about the initial onset of the disease. It amazed me that her brain went through so much but was some how able to repair itself.
If you guys are definitely looking for a non-fiction book based in psychology I would definitely check this one out.

The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan
5.0
Okay! This book was completely amazing and I loved every second of it. I can't believe that the Heroes of Olympus series is over with and that the gang is finally all grown up. A couple of things I loved about this book:
-I actually enjoyed the fact that it wasn't written from Percy's perspective or Annabeth. It seemed like the other kids needed a chance to shine and I loved seeing everything from Nico's perspective as he was my favorite character of this entire series.
-The fact that the bond between the female characters grew stronger is what amazed me the most. It was great to see such kick ass female relationships.
-This book didn't hold back. People died. And it wasn't all peaches and cream like you would expect from a children's book.
-I loved that we were introduced to new gods and goddesses. It makes learning about Greek and Roman mythology even more interesting.
-There were so many twist and turns and unexpected obstacles.
So if you guys can't already tell I absolutely loved this book and I'm sad to see it go; however, I think it's time for me to learn the story of other characters probably starting with the kids from the Kane Chronicles! Rick Riordan has definitely given me stuff to look forward to after finishing this series.

The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg
4.0
Such a beautiful book and if you haven't read it then you definitely need too! I mean the movie is good; however, I think that to get the true experience of the Polar Express you should also read the book. : )
The Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis
4.0
Okay so I'm 25 and I've never read The Chronicles of Narnia and I've clearly been missing out. It was great to see how the story began. I'm currently listening to the audio drama of these and it's a great experience!
If the Shoe Fits by Sarah Mlynowski
3.0
This was really good. I'm loving the twists that are occurring and that these fairy tales are never what you expect. Cinderella definitely was a little more sassy than we usually expect and she definitely learned a lot in the end. I definitely will continue with the series.
The Dry Grass of August by Anna Jean Mayhew
3.0
I have a lot of thoughts about this book. And it's hard to put them all down but I will say that it was heartbreaking and my goodness it was hard to ready about Mary being the help. I don't know. Having someone in the family who shared her experiences makes this all the more personal and even more difficult to write. I definitely need to collect my thoughts and probably write them out.
When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon

Update! Here's my full review: http://www.bookishrealmreviews.com/2017/07/when-dimple-met-rishi-by-sandhya-menon.html
This was a cute book and I loved a lot of the aspects that we encounter however I did find the book a little predictable and part of me felt like it was about 20 pages too long. I ended up just skimming over the last few pages because I thought it was dragging on. But the whole concept behind the book was really cute and this is definitely something for those individuals that really love contemporary books. I just have a few things that I would have liked to see differently. I overall would give the book 3.5 stars and I will be doing a full review.

في بيتنا شبح by R.L. Stine

This was actually pretty good. I think this was the first time I've read this one but it definitely was worth the read. I saw the twist coming but I like how it was written! Overall it was an interesting story and it made me want to start recollecting all my goosebumps books.
