Book Boyfriend by Claire Kingsley
3.0
This was a cute contemporary romance. I’m definitely looking forward to reading the last two books in the series. The sec scenes definitely had me fanning myself and I really enjoyed them. Alex proved to be the perfect “book” boyfriend and he would definitely resonate with individuals that read books. This books also pushed me to check out some more romance audiobooks. I’ll be uploading my full review on here when it goes live on my blog.
What Happens In Vegas by Shana Gray

This book definitely went too fast and it wasn’t logical for the characters to even fall in love. It felt rushed and didn’t really add up. I liked the friendship between the women but honestly that was about it.
Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys

Oh boy this is my second 5 star book of the year! I think this year may shape up to have some really good reads and let me tell you: THIS BOOK FREAKING BROKE MY HEART!
I can't read anymore sad books this month lol. I don't think my heart could possibly handle it. Let me start by saying that this book was beautiful, I mean absolutely beautiful. It crafted this multi-perspective story in ways I could never imagine. I loved the history behind the story. I was a history major in college, but I have to admit this is one maritime disaster I don't remember learning about and I'm so glad that Sepetys felt the need to bring it to our attention.
The writing is actually what got to me. There is no way I could have possibly imagined that such a beautiful book could have contained four different perspectives, but it did. And trust me you won't enjoy everyone's perspective, but it definitely does add to the overall development of the entire novel. I don't think it would have been complete if it was missing any of the perspectives. I really really enjoyed this book and if you haven't read it I definitely would suggest going into blind. I think this is one that I will be doing a full review on once I get a chance.

Mommy Sayang: Pixar Animation Studios Artist Showcase by Rosana Sullivan

Such an important book! I loved the characters and the meaning behind the book.
Hector: A Boy, a Protest, and the Photograph That Changed Apartheid by Adrienne Wright
5.0
Such an important picture book ! I really enjoyed it and didn't realize how much I didn't know about the student protest that took place in South Africa. Apartheid is definitely a topic that I'm learning and this book opened up my eyes to another aspect of it. I'll be looking for more picture books that specifically deal with apartheid in South Africa.
The Flash, Volume 1: Lightning Strikes Twice by Joshua Williamson
3.0
The Flash isn't one of my favorite characters, but I understand why his story is so important and essential to the overall theme of DC's Rebirth line. I'll be interesting in seeing where his character development goes in future volumes that I read and also how he plays into the overall concept that these characters have lost so much time.
After We Collided by Anna Todd
2.0
Ughhhhhhh haha I’m beating myself up because this series is awful like truly awful but I can’t stop reading it because the author is completely capable of writing a cliff hanger. I’m not sure if allowing the reader into the head of Hardin was supposed to make us like him more as a character or more empathetic but honestly it made me dislike him more when I learned exactly how he viewed Tessa and her relationships with other men even if they are just friends. There was an unnecessary love triangle because we all know that Tessa isn’t going to leave Hardin. Hardin is controlling and abusive and yet there is no repercussions for his actions. I wish that Todd focused more on addressing the unhealthy aspects of their relationship through therapy, intervention or something else. But she doesn’t which is truly disheartening. Unfortunately, the cliff hanger was interesting and I’ll probably end up listening to the next book on audio.
Lemon Meringue Pie Murder by Joanne Fluke
3.0
This was another cute installment in the series. With this reading I definitely found that some aspects of this series are dated and it shows in certain language that is used. While these aren’t necessarily the best written novels, I do enjoy the fact that I don’t always see the killer coming and it takes a while for me to put the clues together. It’s only when the final clue appears that I realize who’s committed the crime. I’ll definitely be continuing with this series even though it feels as though there are a million books haha.
Ice Cream Man Volume 2: Strange Neapolitan by W. Maxwell Prince
3.0
Update! Here's the full review: https://bookishrealmreviews.blogspot.com/2019/08/ice-cream-man-vol-2-by-w-maxwell-prince.html
I think that I'm a little confused on how the ice cream man is tied to all of these stories. He seems to be evil or some sort of demon. I can't tell just yet. And because it isn't clear on what he is, it makes it extremely difficult to figure out what the purpose of the comic is. I like the stories though. They're pretty gruesome and they reveal some interesting facts about humanity or the lack of humanity. I'll pick up the next volume to see if I get some clarity.
