Skyward by Brandon Sanderson

Just excellent. Everything about it was amazing. The characters, the plot, the action scenes. The only complaint I have is that it was a tad bit predictable. That said, I will continue to read pretty much anything Brandon Sanderson puts out. I can't wait for Starsight to continue the story of Callsign: Spin!

Having read the Riyria Revelations this past year I wanted to get back into this world and have more adventures with Hadrian and Royce. And I was not disappointed. I loved getting the story behind Royce and Hadrian forming Riyria and am excited to continue their story!

I will always read books about Royce and Hadrian's adventures. This felt like a short story more than a novel and I did leave the story wanting more.

The story was action packed from beginning to end and the fight sequences were great. However, the speed of the plot saved little room for character development. Highly entertaining, but didnt have the depth needed to start truly caring about most of the characters and what happened to them.

A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin

I had no idea what to expect going into this book and I was pleasantly surprised. From the sprawling, huge world I am used to from the likes of Brandon Sanderson and modern fantasy authors in general, this book took a wholly different tack....perhaps because its classic fantasy. Having a charmingly simple world and plot that I kept imagining being a campfire story that i was being told by an aged and wise old man. Very enjoyable and just so....so easy to read. Props Ursula K Leguin. Well done.

Any book with Ender Wiggins in it is something i will read. His character is so engaging and his inner monologue is so interesting. In the same amount I loved the parts about Ender and the people of this planet, I disliked almost all of the story that dealt with xenobiology. I found it dry and boring and it felt unnecessary and took me out of the story. In my opinion it did not add much to the story. To be fair, I do not enjoy when there is too much history or worldbuilding in a book. So if you like that, or like science more than I do, this might be a bonus for you. But for me personally it was not my favorite.

This book was different. Very fantastical and completely unique. Original and moving in its insights into childhood and adulthood and the connections between the two.
