Blood Orange by Yaffa As

an honest poem, about the yearning for belonging, hope towards humanity and freedom. depiction of an ongoing colonialism and massacre in Palestine.
reading this book, i felt all the emotion that the writer trying to deliver as well as the urgency to do something. a very powerful piece of literature that ignites the flame to help each other, and spread kindness.
Romansa Stovia by Sania Rasyid

Wandering Stars by Tommy Orange
an intergenerational story, about indigenous people. their culture, life and racism they felt on their own land.
reading this book opened up my knowledge and trained my sympathy towards this matter, also the writing style is very beautiful with a natural approach. addiction, love, family and the need to provide something for the community play such a big part in this book. i’m very much enjoy it, although sometimes the slow pace makes the storyline become redundant. also, the chapter made me work extra hard to figure out who is who.
but as an overall thought, this is such an important reading experience.

He felt then his body was a metaphor, human history some elaborate hoax, the world made against itself, split in half everywhere with its good and evil, love and hate, day and night, dream and waking, heaven and hell, Indians and men.

The Details by Ia Genberg
this book only has less than 150 pages but it took me quite some time to finish it. It is about all the important small details of people that shape our main character’s life. it is beautifully written, about people who come and go, people who teach and left you bleed, about meeting new people knowing they would leave you at the end.
it is a beautiful depiction of love, friendship, family, and oneself.
i didn’t give 4 or 5-star rating because i hope i also could get a glimpse of the MC’s life in the present moment so i could feel more connected and sympathize towards her life experience.
overall, such a dense, remarkable read.

We live so many lives within our lives—smaller lives with people who come and go, friends who disappear, children who grow up—and I never know which of these lives is meant to serve as the frame.

The Rule Book by Sarah Adams
i love how easy to read this book is, happiness from the beginning to the end. love the main characters so much, especially Nora. she is so loveable and cute and unique and i love she knows exactly her self-worth. a little miscommunication, but i applaud their willingness to resolve it quickly. i also love Derrek’s friendship, the found family is so heartwarming to read.

“There are three ways to ultimate success. The first way is to be kind. The second is to be kind. The third is to be kind.”

Trisurya - The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu
plotnya sangat complex, dengan alur maju-mundur, ada unsur video game dan planet lain. kebanyakan aku bingung waktu penjelasan science dan mathnya soalnya serinci itu pakai sejarah dan background ilmuwan.
other than that, aku suka banget sama plot balas dendamnya dan bagaimana mereka berusaha untuk memusnahkan manusia dan melawan negara-negara.

Icarus by K. Ancrum
I enjoyed it and cried a lot. i love Icarus and Helios, as well as Icarus’s friend. the father issues that they’ve been through are very different but also similar to the other side, it explores what it would be like to experience true love because they couldn’t experience those things from their own family members. to find sanctuary and comfort through friendship. to find yourself and realize that you also deserve all the good things after living with a person who keeps emotionally blackmailing you.
it is a heartbreaking and painful read but also very easy in terms of writing style and plot line. i will treasure this book wholeheartedly

“You stole so much from me,” Icarus continued. “Time I can’t get back, friendships I could have had, experiences I can never ever share. She died, and I get that and it was painful and it was horrible, but you never gave me a chance to live.”

The ABC Murders by Agatha Christie
i love the premise, the murder plan of using the alphabet to choose the victims and place. this idea is very fresh and unique but the execution is not being done well.
i have high expectations since we follow from the detective perspective but i can connect with the detective especially when he uses so many French words and there aren’t any footnotes of the translation, i felt lost most of the time, and there are so many elements that aren’t being used, they just got mention and suddenly forgotten.
also, the whole plot got the answer just from one chapter at the end so it felt so rushed and mundane. although the plot twist still got me, it wasn’t as impactful as i thought it would be.
quite a disappointing read

there isn’t such a thing as a murderer who commits crimes at random. Either he removes people who stand (however insignificantly) in his path, or else he kills by conviction.

Happening by Annie Ernaux
very straightforward, realistic and true to human nature. follow the process of the main character trying to have an abortion. in this book, there’s less emotional aspect being included, but near the ending when the climax happens and the mc shows her raw emotion, it hit me on so many levels.
being written like a diary entry, i got the vivid and detailed image of the process and it is very unsettling and uncomfortable to read, but also this factor that makes this book very close to heart. looking back and thinking that this whole experience happened to real people just broke my heart. it awakened something within me and gave me new perspective in life.

Maybe the true purpose of my life is for my body, my sensations and my thoughts to become writing, in other words, something intelligible and universal, causing my existence to merge into the lives and heads of other people.

The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston
I’m not too fond of the main plot of this book, the romance is too cringe and insta-love. i love the premise of the apartment that can go back in time, but i think the writer didn’t maximize the concept really well since the romance didn’t stand out for me.
on the other hand, i love the writing style, i think the writing style that keeps me going with my reading. i also enjoy this book's subplot, friendship and family aspects.
i don’t think i will read another of Ashley’s books in the future.

“I think,” he finally said, choosing his words carefully, “that nothing lasts forever. Not the good things, not the bad. So just find what makes you happy, and do it for as long as you can.”
