I read this one AFTER reading Running With the wind. It was nice to get some context for the break in at the ship builders guild. romance was nice. funny, i can see why the author leaned into that for Running with the wind.
Time traveller Zera is tasked with collecting data of a catastrophic storm but keeps bumping into the same woman in different eras. Why do they keep meeting? Why doesn't this mysterious woman age and can they change the future?
I had so much fun with this one. A sapphic slow burn. Not too many characters so it was easy to remember who was who. Didn’t get confused between Zera’s original year and whichever year she went to. Appreciated how Katherine was very aware of her situation and was TRYING to keep Zera on track. For a time traveller Zera gets distracted easily. It’s pretty easy to tell from the start that she's attracted to shiny things so it's not surprising when she gets to time travel she's mentally all over the place.
Katherine wants a cure for her immortality so she can age and live out her life as a regular human, Zera wants data about a storm that keeps repeating throughout history. They agree to help each other and over the few times they meet Katherine changes as a person. Katherine’s personality changes a lot over time behind the scenes so because I didn’t see her grow as a character I wasn’t a fan of the romance. It's only a slow burn because it takes a while in the books for them to make any move but technically they've only spent a short while with each other, maybe a week in total?
No spoilers here but the ending/reveal? I was suspicious but for some reason the reveal still snuck up on me. I’m sure most people reading this will put two and two together before I manage to!
Mild Spoiler: I couldn't quite work out the pocket watch situation and how that had anything to do with the plot, as it seemed like there was definitely something going on there but no one mentioned it again? Did I miss something?
While the time travel didn’t confuse me too much I felt like the plot got a bit lost/repetitive. Some things just seemed a bit too convenient. Otherwise I had fun.

As soon as this book landed in my inbox I downloaded it immediately to read the first chapter while eating breakfast. In between running errands and being social I still managed to finish reading this book within 30 hours of receiving the earc.
I immediately fell in love with Frankie and was glad to know she'd be immediately treated like the goddess she is by Finch. We've gotten to know Finch throughout the series from her siblings POV and I'm SO GLAD we finally got to Finch's story (I say finally but she's sibling 3 of 7, I'm just impatient). Seeing Finch come to recognise in herself that as a vet she takes on EVERYTHING and needs to learn to trust others hit a bit too close to home. I could see her burnout coming from a mile away. It was handled really well.
There were SO many lines from Finch that made me blush and giggle as I repeated them aloud to my wife. Speaking of my wife, she now claims she's read the whole book because of how much I talked about it at her.
Aside from the sizzling romance brewing between Finch and Frankie I loved seeing new friendships develop. One of my favourite things was seeing Hannah be so happy within the Lachlan family, being besties with Dove and befriending Frankie.
This series continues to give me the perfect amount of drama while still keeping everything light and fun. Bring on book 4

Utterly ridiculous! I can't remember the last adult book that made me laugh out loud so much.
Closed door adult fantasy/comedy with a dash of romance and A LOT of sex jokes.
I don’t know what else to say that other people haven't said already.
The perfect book to pick when you just want something that doesn't take itself seriously (like at all).
The narrator's decision to voice the mc like that was definitely a choice and I’m not against it. Others found it annoying but I can’t picture him any other way now.
