This one just didn’t work for me at all! The first half of the read just didn’t align with the second half. It felt disjointed and like 2 different storylines. The reactions of the character’s just didn’t flow throughout the read. I found Lauren to be such an annoying character throughout. Her dialogue felt so repetitive throughout the read. In the second half it felt like the storyline got bizarre and it didn’t conjoin with the actions and thoughts of how the storyline started out. I found it a slog to get through and it didn’t engage me and just seemed drawn out to the point I wasn’t inclined to pick it up. Unfortunately this one wasn’t for me.

🎧 I love the Maeve Kerrigan book series but this one isn’t one of my favourites. I found it very slow paced and a little dragged out. It was an intriguing storyline but it just didn’t engage me and felt like it didn’t have enough going on to hold my attention. Now as for Maeve Kerrigans and Josh Derwents relationship that’s a whole other story that I can’t get enough of. I love them as characters, detectives and colleagues and they just bring their own awesomeness. Really hope we don’t have to wait too long for the next instalment.

🎧 I didn’t realise this was the 3rd book in the series and it’s only after finishing it I feel that reading the first 2 is a must. It would have definitely added to the listen and build up more of the backstory for me. It was a good listen that started off strong and moved at a steady pace but in the middle it slowed the pace and it felt a little drawn out. I found the storyline interesting and engaging and found the characters likeable and feel they would be the type of characters you would come to love. Good listen that had a well developed storyline and characters but definitely need to start at the beginning to enhance the experience of the series.

🎧 This started off strong and your thrown into the story from the first word and it builds momentum. Some aspects I found a little unrealistic and others predictable. The characters were likeable enough but I felt I didn’t really get to know Ted that well whereas Sadie is very much a well developed character. It’s a little drawn out when it comes to the pace of the storyline. I found the outcome and how it all came together a little bit of a blindside and it felt like it came out of nowhere. It was an ok listen but it did feel like the ending belonged to a different book.

This is the 3rd book in The Tyler Family Series. It’s another great read from Emma Tallon while also visiting with the The Tyler’s. I love the way she writes her characters and family connections and then she combines it with the criminal underworld. It’s never a dull moment. I always find it hard to put down these book series as there always a whirlwind when it comes to the storylines and twists and turns and it’s strange to say but I get so fond of the characters. All bets are off when it comes to ‘The Life’. If you like Martina Cole you will love Emma Tallon. You’ll thank me later 🥰. Forget running away to join the circus I’m joining the The Tyler’s or The Drew’s 😉.

🎧 To begin with this was a slow burn. It really felt dragged out and could have been a lot shorter. It was an ok storyline if a little unbelievable and with many a red flag. The characters weren’t overly likeable and I really found Anna to be irritating and her inner thoughts and actions just became tedious. The pace picked up about 3/4’s of the way in with some surprising twists that definitely caught my attention. It was an ok and the outcome definitely saved it.

🎧 This one is very much a slow burn till about halfway into the storyline. It’s switches between past and present timelines which I really enjoyed as it really built the storyline but the slower pace did take from that aspect for me. I found the narrator to be a little over dramatic at times when it came to Cassie and it got a little annoying. It’s very cleverly written and has well developed characters. How it all came together was a nice turnaround and I do love when an ending sends me off course. This is a good listen if you can get over the slow moving plot.

🎧 It started off strong and at a steady pace moving from past and present timelines. Catherine’s backstory wasn’t long coming together and it gave a real insight into events in the present day. I was really engaged for the first half of the listen but it went downhill for the second half to the point of unbelievable and just to far fetched and I found it hard to stay engaged. Cole really knows how to write completely despicable characters and Tom is right up there for me. It started strong but unfortunately didn’t keep up the momentum and went too far off course.

🎧 The premise sounded like my kind of listen and I was interested to get stuck in. It’s a very slow burn for the first 3/4’s of the listen and I found I was disinterested but it does ramp up for the last 1/4 and did grab my attention. It was interesting how the storyline came together but it was a slow slog to get there. This is the first in the Freya Sinclair series but it felt like the second as there was a lot of references to Freya’s backstory and it felt like I’d missed out on a previous read. Her backstory was never explained so I felt I was missing a huge part of the story which is important to the character that Freya is today. I found the characters likeable and could see myself becoming fond of them. It’s a well developed storyline but it’s not executed well in the pace and how the story flows. The narration felt a little stilted and over dramatic at times. Hopefully the next instalment will have a little better execution and sheds more light on Freya’s history.

🎧 I went in blind with this one as I’d forgotten what the blurb entailed. There is a lot going on in the way of storylines and I don’t think it worked as some felt a little mixed up, others weren’t followed through on and left hanging and some just weren’t needed. It felt like the author was trying to do too much instead of just focusing on one or two. At times the style of writing could be very descriptive and I found my mind wandering a little. Some aspects of the storylines where obvious from early on and took away the suspense factor and didn’t leave much in the way of guesswork for the listener. As for the characters I can’t say I was overly bothered with any of them. Unfortunately there was just too many aspects of this listen that didn’t work so overall I just found it meh.
