final thoughts: broody goalies and sunshine girls are my favorite! This was my first Ana Shay book, and I loved it. The storyline was great, easy to read, and FULLLLLL of angst.
Even though this was the first of the Covey Crushers series, there are characters and world building from the other series that take place at Covey U. I felt like there were a great deal of plot holes that kept taking me out of the story and were never answered. I'm eager to read the rest of the series to fill them! The characters are so interesting and funny and I'm ready to meet the rest of the team.
I recommend reading the prequel story Pucking High School: A Prequel Novella to The Draft to get more backstory for the main couple.

final thoughts: this book was so refreshing. Lots of great tropes with a lot of new-to-me twists. I loved seeing their relationship unfold and seeing them get comfortable around each other.
The FMC Vanessa was patient, kind, and searching for her own HEA.
The MMC Sven is a sweet virgin who is neurodivergent and touch-averse but finds his perfect other half in his second chance fake girlfriend.
I wish there was more to the ending! It was a great HEA but I felt like it was super fast and left me needing more to their story

final thoughts: this was such an unexpected read! There were plot twists left and right and I was left guessing right up through the epilogue. The world building was great, the storyline was interesting, and the romance was so sweet. As with most monster romances, there were some funny miscommunications and word choices that had me laughing.
This was a highly emotional read that didn’t feel emotionally taxing with the rest of the plot happening and plenty of pop culture references to keep your mind light. While the triggers do follow the characters through most of the book, it was not overwhelming, and the triggering scenes were nondescriptive.

Both narrators were able to capture the characters so well without their opposite character voices being cringy

final thoughts: starting a book with a playlist is a great way to get me excited about a book and that excitement lasted through to the very end.
I loved the way this book surprised me! This is book 3 of a series- it can be read as a standalone (which I did) but I’ll definitely be going back to read the rest of the series because I loved all the characters so much.
The tattooing scenes were some of my favorites and I loved the way we got to see them both changing for themselves and each other. The forced proximity scenes were so well done and the grand gestures were so perfect!

final thoughts: this book broke my heart and put it back together. I love a morally dark MMC who would burn the world for his FMC while being soft just for her.
This was another huge twist and plot change from book 2 (just like book 2 was for book 1) that kept me guessing, nervous, and giddy.
Persephone is a badass who gets to know herself all while fighting an internal battle and falling in love with Hades all over again.
The side characters, once again, make this book amazing. I’m excited to read the novella of Mellie and Helios since it takes place during the same timeframe as The Queen & The King.
A great wrap-up but I didn’t want their story to finish!

We get a lot more of Cerberus and Mellie in this book and I love the side characters just as much as I love the main characters.

final thoughts: SO GOOD! I was on the edge of my seat for this entire read! Keep in mind that the author has taken some liberties with Greek mythology for the sake of the plot, but the dubious and triggering content from traditional Greek mythology is still part of this series.

I love Hades and Persephone retellings, and this was such a fun take on it. It’s a modern retelling while also being close to the traditional story. Tons of romance, smut, mystery, intrigue, and world building. I cannot wait to finish the rest of the series.

final thoughts: overall, this was a fun whodunnit with plenty of twists and turns that i would recommend to mystery readers.
this book has interesting characters, lots of intrigue, drops of romance, plenty of suspense, and a whole lot of second-guessing on who the murderer is.

i felt like the pacing was good through most of the book but seemed very rushed toward the end. i would've loved more leading up to the reveal as well as "what's next" after the murderer's identity is finally given.
