I just saw that Patrick Ness recommended reading this right after the Knife of Never Letting Go and I read this months after I finished the whole trilogy—which was fire by the way. I loved the short story, loved seeing a glimpse of Viola's life on the settlers' ship. I was wondering how her parents died and as usual, the writing is amazing. Even the font is the same one as the Violas in the next books.

My first time reading a book written in verse and I absolutely adored it. The stroy itself was completely heartbreaking; I can't believe some children actually go through this. And Sarah Crossan did a wonderful job with the poetry, it told the story beautifully and it's just so cool. Whatever I don't really know how to rate poetry.

I didn't cry but it's really sad, I'm telling you. And I was really angry at Allison's father—like 🤬🤬🤬 angry not just 😠😠😠. Like how can someone be as mean as that? It's just awful what Allison had to go through. And I loved the character arc and how Allison stood up for herself in the end. She has such a terrible life and to see her have a happy ending made me so sad-happy, you know? It's just so sad 😔😔

I also think the way dementia was written was great, and it showed not just what Marla goes through but the people around her too. How some people just give up when it gets too frustrating. I thought Lucy was gonna be Allison's friend, but I kinda liked how she didn't. Instead, you get to see a character who uses wealth to manipulate "lowly people" and thinks they can get away with it. Overall, awesome book, loved it.

IT WASN'T MY FAULT OKAY. Suddenly spotifyzzzz (omg I didn't mean to do that but it's funny so I'm just gonna leave it 😂) made it unavailable so I can't finish it. Which is a shame cause I really really liked the first half. 😬😬😬

And well, once in a while you have to tell a story, a really long story. A story about love, about family—the ones you're born into and the ones you make along the way. You have to tell these stories to feel connected to those you love and those who love you.

THIS IS MY NEW FAVOURITE BOOK. I loved it so so much and I will probably reread this a bunch of times in the future.

It's so much more that what the blurb says. Like it's not just about Marco and Sally, it's about finding yourself, it's about what happens when your parents divorce or when your friend wears long sleeves all the time cause she has an alcoholic father who sometimes hits her. It's about racism, it's about friendship and relationships. It's about when a family member is chronically ill and you know it's just about time. It's about sacrificing your dreams so your family can continue living. It's about bullying. It's about childhood depression and feeling so sad you just couldn't get up. It talks about when your dad goes to prison so you stop being a child at 15. It's really theme heavy and that, I feel, is what makes the book so spectacular and beautiful for me. And all the advice in this book is just brilliant and perfect and it feels like someone giving you a hug and telling you you'll be alright.

I LOVE the friendship between Marco, Sally, Jade, Sookie and Diego. They look out for each other all the time. And it also explores how when you leave high school you're really afraid of losing your friends. And it captures that feeling of wanting desperately to freeze time, cause you don't want to make new friends. You want to forever stay like that, hanging out with your crowd. Other than that, I think the romance between Marco and Sally was done beautifully. They are so adorable!! I have never felt more lonely in my entire life and this book is to blame. I love how they're so sweet and they've been in love since they were so young.

I took a deep breath, finding the last of my courage for the night. "You."
"My turn? Again?"
"No. I like...you."
"Me?"

Another thing I completely adored was all the physics concepts tucked inside this book. And the way it was narrated with so much passion that it made me remember why I liked the subject, and science and learning as a whole. That's been pretty important for me these days cause you know, college and all. But I feel like this book was exactly what I needed, like it was a perfect match for me. And I'll kind of understand why people won't say that this book blew them away but I just don't care cause it feels so personal to me.

Maybe I'm just not into audiobooks? I liked it but it was too slow for me and it bugged me out that I can't physically see the words and see how much more I have left to read. And the weird chapters on spotify. Although, it was refreshing to read about chinese legends stuff. I think if I had the ebook or hardcopy I would really like it.

Well right off the bat, I'd say this book was a fun and quick read. It was an okayy book. Didn't really live up to my expectations or maybe it did and I'm just not into fbi stuff anymore. Anyway, you should give it a try if you're into criminal minds and the psychopaths thingy.

The first half of the book was moderate but I really enjoyed the climax. I love it when the plot twists come back to back. If this thing didn't have a love triangle, I would've probably given it a 3.75? I used to like it but now I just find it annoying and unrealistic. But that's just me.

The characters were okay. None of them were really that special, you know? Well I did have a soft spot for Michael towards the end cause he reminds me a little bit of Nikolai from the Grishaverse. That's it, I guess. I loved the FBI aspect of the story and I think it was done really really well. But besides that, it was just a quick read 🤷🏻😉

If everything you know about yourself isn't true, how do you know who you are?

I have mixed feelings about this book. First off—this book prevented a book slump for me and I could not put it down. This book made me feel things and it's been a while since I screamed at a book. In some parts the pace was slow and in others it was really fast. There's one of my favourite tropes in here, found family. I think the friendship between 2.0 was awesome and the sort of misfits brought together by a single goal. I mean, I'm a sucker for that thing.

I think the characters were well developed. I loved Alix. Despite that one major incident when she was a complete idiot, she was super cool. Smart, not damsel-y, strong and driven. Cynthia was EVEN MORE amazing—I mean wow, that girl is freakin brilliant. I guess they're all geniuses so that compliment doesn't really stand. Kook, Tank and Adam was not as much developed. Although Tank was pretty much the center of the story most of the times. Moses? Hmm I don't know. He's a pretty good character, but as usual with the love interests, I got higher expectations for him. He reminds me a little of Kaz, but he's far from that level of ingenious. But you know, I guess he's alright.

One of the problems I have with this books is I felt the romance was a bit rushed. Actually I think a lot of the book was like that. It's like going slow and then suddenly someone hit the accelerator and the next thing you know everything is happening. The scene in the car was good, but then I was like—what? That's it? No tension? I get that not all romance are slow burn and they're not necessarily bad, but I guess I was kinda disappointed. I really liked the build up before that.

I liked how ADHD was talked about in the book in the form of Jonah, I think it was well represented. Although I do wish I'd seen him more often in the book and the siblings relationship. I felt like it wasn't fair that Alix's parents didn't get that much coverage either, especially her mom. She was basically just dismissed as a trophy wife who does Pilates. Sophie and Derek also just vanished like that? I mean, weren't they pretty close before this?

Overall, I liked it. It kind of feels like a watered down version of my favourite book if that makes any sense? I think the plot was incredible too.

"I don't think it's that black-and-white," he said.
"It's not a panda?"
His lip quirked up on one side (the right, never the left). "No, not a panda."

An amazing story about one side to asian-american's lives💫There's so much I didn't know before reading this. I think the author did a good job in making the chinese terms and culture understandable for all audiences.

Although this book covers quite a few heavy themes (e.g. racism, body shaming, family relationships) it didn't lose its fluffy and rom-com aspects. The writing made me crack up so much. I loved Darren and Mei's relationship. They're not unnecessarily dramatic and they're just so cute 😍😍😍

Mei also had to rethink her future and I find that to be most relatable for me cause I'm not that sure of what to do for my degree either. And I find myself agreeing a lot of what she's saying and feeling. Like how she finds biology to be really boring and super icky with germs but she was like, I'll probably get over it. And I loved seeing Mei stand up for herself and figuring out what she wants. Her confidence really shot up and I was rooting for her! I think the characters were really lovable - and I liked how Mei just listened to her mom and not interrupt her and blame it all on her cause Mama had it rough too and she's trying very hard.

This book kinda caught me by surprise cause I was expecting an all fluffy book but instead I got a pretty theme-y one—which made me love it soo much more!! ❤️❤️

AAA I LOVE IT!!! I didn't expect to like it this much and you know the middle part kinda bored me but it's still good. Probably due to how much I relate to some of the writing, (some of the scenes?) And I didn't know exactly what frankenstein was prior to reading this, so this was not like pride and prejudice where I just waited for my favourite scene to come. It's new but it's a classic.

I think my favourite part was the ending—maybe cause I find the monster's words to be so captivating and just much more fun than the human itself lol. I sympathised with the monster and at first I didn't get why Frankenstein couldn't just go through with his promise but then he explained it and okay, yeah, I see it now.

I loved the story, my understanding of classic books definitely improved and I'm so glad I read this. Maybe I'll even re-read it some time in the future?
