The One I Left Behind by Piper Rayne
3.5
3.5 stars π there was something about how people treated Ben (especially his family) that made him feel juvenile and like a grown man-child. Idk. He felt very different from the man in the prequel.

4.75
4.75 stars π This one is going to stick with me for a while.
I loved how despite his circumstances, Demon remained kind always and in all ways, and I think that's his most memorable trait.
It was a tragic story overall. A story of loss and addiction and hope!
Barbara Kingsolver is a master in storytelling.
One of the best books I've ever read!

I know for a fact that I too would have died in a witch's trial. Rest easy Geillis Duncan. You deserved better.
Every single day, women die just for the crime of being women. From birth, we are marked guilty. Of being too loud, knowing too much, not being gentile enough, seducing men, not doing enough to protect ourselves, gold digging...the list is endless.
We exist in a world where we are never enough but simultaneously are too much. Men hate us, fail to protect us, blame us, put up systems to continue to oppress us. They demand our energy, time, effort, bodies, peace, submission, silence...
As women, we all deserve betterment.
