This is a pretty good ghost story in the Bayou Hauntings series.

A family of doctors does experiments on people and it becomes their legacy.

This traverses generations of trauma and morality.

And ghosts. Lots of typical ghosts.

This is a fractured fairytale based on Wizard of Oz.

It was cute. A family drug dynasty and law enforcement trying to take them down. Lots of characters with trauma and unhealed wounds.

The FMC is a bad ass and the MMC is annoying but she loves to hate it.

Pretty good spice.

Sapphic Cannibalistic horror.

Lots of triggers in here including sexual abuse, cannibalism, blood, gore.

The basic story is that a woman is a cannibal and has to eat human meat to stay alive. But she also is great at sex and can apparently just shove a whole fist and forearm up there with no warning and that’s just cool with everyone.

Ending was not as poetic as I would like and I feel like there were some cool opportunities not taken in back/side stories.

I don’t know if I liked this book or not. I think I did. It was hard to get into, the middle flew, then I just wanted it to be over.

It’s a horror story. About menopause. Written by a man.

The story is as strange as the origin.

Death never wins.

I’m giving this 4 stars because I liked the characters. There’s a prince. He’s scarred. Then there’s another prince. He becomes king. Then there’s a girl. She’s meant to be the new queen. The king sucks though so the story is all the politics of that.

The fluttering walls and general grossness of sucking tongues into faces isn’t really my thing for the spiciness.

Overall it was a good story, slow burn, 🌶️🌶️🌶️/🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

This was touted as being reminiscent of The Great Gatsby and The Tempest. It was neither.

The author spent a lot of time building a beautiful world but not a lot of time with character development or relationships.

The basics are there but it ends up being about a bitter dim-witted girl who just wants magic. Magic magic magic. There’s not much detail about why or what makes magic cool but apparently a lot of the family members hate each other for a variety of named (or unnamed) reasons. Everyone is selfish and vapid.

Would not recommend.

I would have given this 4 stars but the Epilogue ruined it. As many epilogues ruin these types of stories.

Beware: the author is an “inner walls” and “folds” girlie.  Which is odd for it barely reaching 🌶️🌶️ spicy.  Probably not even that many.

There are some good twists near the end though and I did enjoy the basic story. If you’re just looking for a fractured fairy tale with an annoying FMC (she cries. Like, a lot). Then this is for you.

A couple of the stories were really good.

Sally Under the Bed, Voodoo Bay, and The Weeping Wind stood out as my favorites.

I liked It Haunts the Mind as well because it related to The Exorcists House novel and I really liked that one as well.

A  handful of quick spooky short stories from a great author.

Everyone knows this story. Everyone has seen the movies and sequels.

It’s a good read. Definitely less convoluted and wordy than his other works (lookin at you It).

The movies actually follow pretty well to the story.  Not mad I read it.   Essentially it boils down to, “if you could have something back after you lost it, would you bring it back even though the cost would certainly be horrible? Not possibly, certainly.”

TW: The cat dies. I mean, obviously. That’s the title of the book.

This is part of the Sleepless Nights series.

Definitely not as good as 52 SN as there are about 6 out of all of them that I would revisit.

Good for quick stories with twists though.
