it took a little while for this one to win me over, but it did eventually win me over in a big way. definitely up there with some of my sci fi favorites, with memorable characters and a richly fleshed out world. i really feel like i'll read this again with the knowledge of all the twists to come, and i'm excited and hopeful that it will live up to my expectations. i'm really glad i stuck with this, and i'm looking forward to continuing the series when the next book comes out.
Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

cosmic erotica made for a truly stunning conclusion (I feel like hooper would challenge that word choice...) to this series! I feel like this wraps things up nicely for Roger but would love to read more of his exploits - and will absolutely be pursuing more art and writing from the creators.
"I am bewitched, entranced. There are aspects of myself that are starting to come into focus and other facets which are becoming blurry, softer. There is an alchemy at work, a sparkling transmutation. Like muscle and bone turned to light and air. There are moments when I am unencumbered by my body...This is witchery of the sweetest kind. I'm enrapt, spellbound. Like we've written and cast a mutual spell over ourselves."
raw and experimental and beautiful! this unique "displaced memoir" and exploratory fiction melded together was a wonderfully weird read, and the experience really deepen my enjoyment of the author's fiction works.
makes a lot of very good points and cites a ton of real cases that make it very compelling and persuasive. BUT. whole anecdotes get repeated with the exact same phrasing over and over and it became really grating. also lots of weird israel cameos? overall, this would have been more effective as a shorter book.
