Dishonestly Yours by Krista Ritchie, Becca Ritchie

One thing i can trust is for Krista & Becca Ritchie to have me obsessing over characters in just the first book! This book feels like an introductory to these characters story. It gives you some of their background, where they are currently at & the different people in their lives. As well as some family drama, which i always eat up. There’s so much angst & found family in this book! This book has me on the edge of my seat & questing everything about these characters lives. I love that these characters aren’t perfect. They are flawed & have lots of internal struggles.

I loved the relationship between Phoebe & Hailey, they were a highlight for me in this book. I also loved the relationship between everyone else in this book. I’m also a little obsessed with Phoebe & Rocky! They’re so cute!

I will say i didn’t like the love triangle, i felt like it was unnecessary. But i need the next book NOW!! How can they leave me with that cliffhanger?!

The audiobook is so well done, the narrators did a fantastic job at bringing me into the story & connecting me to the characters.

Thank you Hachette Audio & NetGalley for the advanced listening copy

This was a massive anticipated read for me, what’s not to love able a black vampire story! Sadly even though i loved the concept the story did not deliver. I felt that the world building was confusing & not fully flushed out like i would have hoped. Usually these things are not issues for me, i don’t need massive amazing world building to enjoy a book but i have to love something else about the book to ignore those things. I didn’t care about any of the characters or their relationships. I felt the characters were just surface level. I’m usually a sucker for a sibling relationship in books but this one just didn’t work out for me. The audiobook was very well down & the narrators did an amazing job!

I can see how other people would like this book it just didn’t keep my attention & i would have finished it if it wasn’t for the audiobook, but i definitely encourage people to read it & form your own opinions!

I have enjoyed the other books that i have read from this author before. Her books are perfect for if you want an easy fast book to read & if you wanna shut your mind off for a bit. Sadly tho this one did not hit. It was still very easy to read, i read 97% in one day & then quit and didn’t go back for months even though i was almost done, just because i didn’t find it enjoyable. I didn’t care about the characters & didn’t believe in their relationship. The best part was the family scenes, they were one of the only reasons i kept reading.

I’ve been told this is people’s least favorite book of this series & they really had to push themselves to get through it, but that was the complete opposite for me. This book made me feel so many things. it made me laugh, cringe, & pissed.

I went into this book excepting not to love it but still being open to the book. I’ve realized really popular books are a hit or miss with time & i was really hoping this one wasn’t one of them & I’m so happy it wasn’t.

I love Tory & Darcy, they are the only ones I care about in this book Everyone else could die & I would be completely fine with that (most especially the heirs). Like I get it y’all don’t want them on the throne since y’all want it but chill the fuck out. Actually I don’t get it, it’s their rightful throne so just step aside & go cry about it.

I listened to the graphic audiobook & loved it. Graphic audios are a hit or miss for me (usually a miss) but this one was so fun & didn’t bring me out of the story.

The only thing you need to know about this book is that it’s a black, sapphic, vampires book.

I really enjoyed this book. I found it fun & engaging. I enjoyed the main characters, although Layla was my favorite of the two.  I enjoyed the relationships between the two and i enjoyed the mystery of the book. I absolutely loved the monster x monster hunter, when done right it is truly one of the best tropes & i think this book did it really well. I really enjoyed the tension/pinning between the two main characters.

There are some things that irked me but they’re just tiny things. Elise frustrated me so much during this book especially at the end of the book, It seems she’s very the kinda person who does things before she acts. I wish the enemies lasted way longer than it did, in the very beginning there is a scene that truly shows how much they hate each other but then it turns to reluctant allies so fast. I did find the pace to be a little slow at times and i found confused at times with the mystery.

In terms of the audiobook, i really enjoyed it. The narrator did an amazing job! She had me wanting to keep listening from beginning to end. The only thing i didn’t like was it wasn’t dual narration & because of that i kept getting confused whose pov i was in.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 73%.
I started off really liking this book but around 50% it started to fell like a completely different book. The romance also feels like it came on way too fast.
