I read a lot of historical (primarily Christian but some LDS) fiction when I was a teenager, and teenage!me would have eaten this up. Adult!Me has a different perspective and expects a little more from her books and I still enjoyed this. Rebecca's mother was a bad ass and my favorite character. The descriptions of Montana had me longing to be there.

There were aspects of this book that I really enjoyed, and then there were parts that just dragged and it was a slog to get through - overall, I felt that the book was too long for the story it was telling. I think part of my problem is that I didn't buy the romance of either of the main couples.

A solid adventure and an intriguing magical system. I have no idea what to make of the ending.

Stayed up all night to read this. Worth the sleepiness hangover, even if my productivity is shot for the day. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and the found family aspect. And thankfully, even though it's an ABO fic, there was no knotting.
