Wow what an ending. The whole book is an incredible spy buildup that you would expect from a Bourne book but the ending had me floored and it might be the best thriller I’ve read this year!

This book was ok but nothing spectacular. Kind of political kind of a heist but didn’t feel special or terribly thrilling

I couldn’t tell you the last time I didn’t really enjoy a Mark Greaney book but this one didn’t do much for me. The first half was a bit of a bore and it did pick up towards the end but I wasn’t as interested in the setting of this one.

I still didn’t love this entry as much as Malice but I thought the ending was very good and I appreciate the bond of Storm and Corban. It’s nice seeing the character growth but my complaint is there’s too many characters and I didn’t think there was enough attention to the main character

I’ve been mixed with this series but I thought this was a great entry. Multiple elements to consider including a teammate and brother of a fallen soldier plus the usual corrupt government official and I found myself really enjoying this one.

Gosh this book was difficult regarding the subject matter the crimes the villain is accused of and the reality that there are people out there that do these things. It’s not an easy read and it’s why we root for characters like Harry Bosch who are not perfect and will irritate and bend the line but are relentless in justice and protection. Connelly is a phenomenal writer and I can’t wait for the next one.

I thought the story was pretty good and had a classic Tom Clancy feel to it. My knock and this has been something I see more and more from this author and others is the “over marketing” of products and it just feels like a cheap marketing stunt. Also, the amount of indulgent food descriptions felt unnecessary. Make it one scene but I don’t care about the different wines and various alcohol and felt it would’ve tightened the story up without the description

I thought this book was pretty good but not a favorite of this series. There’s certainly some real world danger here (sounds a lot like the Terminator) and while some ideas here may feel like science fiction if you watch the interviews the author gives it’s very much a reality. I do feel like the signature Gray Man evasiveness and fighting skills were missing a bit and hope the next book provides it mire.

The story itself is pretty good. The series has certainly shifted from Gabriel conducting the mission to be more of a director when called upon and introducing new characters to the mission and danger. Once again and to my disappointment the author insists on plugging his own personal political messaging into the novels which are both an oversimplification and probably insulting half of his audience with ludicrous takes. I beg of you sir, save it for a blog…
