I’m lost. Are there more issues to come?!

Again, good on the action. Unfortunately there’s so much going on that I had trouble following. As much as the novel struggled with the relationships and pacing, this was way too quick.

I admit, I read this mostly to get a glimpse of Chewie’s family. Didn’t until the very end, but the rest was all right. Not my favourite comics in this universe, but a cute story.

Not sure this actually explains anything about Kylo Ren, other than they tried to make him Anakin 2.0. It doesn’t give any depth to his character (in fact it makes him look even more pitiful) and it introduces characters that have zero impact in the story, because they’re gone by the end of the comics.

The only good thing about this is that we got to know how deeply rooted Snoke already was by the time Ben turned.

And was that the Drengir station Snoke was on? WTF?! Yet more threads left hanging…

Of all 3 books, I probably liked this one the most. Which isn’t saying a lot. But it had decent action throughout and the characterization fit.

I just have one major gripe with it: the author called Han “Solo” the whole time. Like, I get when it’s from another character’s PoV, or when someone else is talking to or about him. But when it’s his own PoV? Han wouldn’t think of himself as his last name?! It didn’t make any sense and it bothered me the whole time.

Still loving it, although I wish there was more Padmé. Not sure how one issue will be able to complete the story, though, as there's a lot more happening after where this one cuts off. I guess we'll be robbed of some more Padmé scenes :(

I am liking these comics more than the novel. Of the Thrawn trilogy, Alliances was my least favourite, but the comics speed the action enough that it makes things more interesting.

A pretty good issue. I liked how they tackled the team wanting revenge versus causing problems for the empire.

Much like the previous collection, this is not as good as the book. But seeing Thrawn and Vader/Anakin bitch and bicker at each other is always worth it 😂

I think I know what the author was trying to do with this. Unfortunately, it didn’t work. To tell the story of a character third hand through an entire novel, that character needs to be so mythical, to have such a life of their own that the reader still feels them as if they were there.

The story I read didn’t make Phasma anything more than other run-of-the-mill Star Wars villain. The problem is that SW has such iconic characters that the story of a calculating woman who murdered anyone standing in the way of her survival and rise to power isn’t grand or surprising. If anything, reading this made me care about Phasma less. And it’s a damn shame, because she’s one of the few true female villains in Star Wars.

You know who I did like reading about, though? Cardinal. I already loved him from reading Black Spire, but seeing him unraveling was a treat. The last 100 pages of this book were better than the first 250. I wish the entire story could’ve been about him instead, and another story written about Phasma.

Delilah S Dawson can write and make me truly care about characters, but unfortunately this book wasn’t it for me. However, I strongly suggest people skip to Black Spire, because that one is so much more worth it!

A pretty good summary of the novel. My only complaint is that this format deprived us of Eli's internal dialogue. And Thrawn without the homoerotic angsty subtext isn't quite as good 😅
