Oh that was good! And all the little stories from the annual have some much more insight on how things in the novels were set up!

This is what I needed to truly connect with the HR phase. It’s comics like this that make me appreciate the multi-media approach to SW canon.

Finally I understand who Zeen is 🙈 that’s what I get for reading phase 1 out of order.

I liked it. There’s a lot of mysteries being floated around, some I don’t even know where they lead, despite having read all the novels in that phase.

The format feels very child-oriented, but the story is enjoyable for every age. My old eyes wouldn’t have said no to a regular-sized comic though…

I didn’t love this book for several reasons, but even the premise is flawed in my eyes. I cannot believe that Leia would come up with a plan that would knowingly endanger innocent people just to give the Rebellion a chance to rally their forces. It just doesn’t sound like her. Had any other character brought it up and she went grudgingly along, I might have agreed. But this is too far fetched.

Then you have the characters that join her on this ludicrous quest. They’re all stereotypes, and I might’ve been fine with it, if it hadn’t been for Antrot. Antrot is so autistic-coded that it hurts. And not in the good way. He’s a walking autistic stereotype, down to the tech genius and the robotic talk. They don’t need a droid in this book because Antrot serves that purpose. And that makes me extremely mad.

Most of the book was forgettable. The action was mediocre. The conversation didn’t provide any new light on the Rebellion or the Empire (except for the interrogation droid thing at the end, and that was just uncomfortable to read). We don’t even know why or how the Imperial officer found them.

I’m disappointed. I thought other reviews were exaggerating because it’s a MG novel and adults tend to forget those are targeting tweens, but it’s just not a good book. I’m hoping the other two are better…

Well that was loads better than the first volume.

And now I am in mourning 🥺
Keerin didn’t deserve an end like that.

We got to see Stellan, though!!
Right before he died too. Which makes everything ten times worse 😔

I have a hard time reading Legends books, since a lot of them contradict the new canon and it makes my head spin. So I wasn’t sure about this one. But since it’s Obi-Wan, I had to try.

Most of the book was basically me wanting to hit Orrin Gault, or throw the book against a wall and yell in anger. I’m not a huge fan of westerns, and the sexism and occasional ableism made me feel sick. I didn’t care that much about the Tuskens either.
But then, it got to the final showdown and Obi-Wan showed up like the absolute legend he is! And I was eating it out like a fine dinner.

Everything that had to do with Anakin
(including the skybrothers story being a metaphor for Ani and Ben’s relationship!!!!)
kept me going even when I couldn’t care less about Annileen and Orrin and the nightmare children they each have. Frankly, Ulbreck is about the only character I somewhat respected in that village, and that’s because he didn’t try to show anyone up. He’s old and alcoholic and he doesn’t try to hide it.

I’m glad it doesn’t really contradict the Kenobi series (which I am enamoured with), except for small details. I was able to enjoy it at least a little, even if the genre and many of the characters weren’t my cup of tea.

So that was all for nothing… don’t get me wrong, I liked the book, but getting to the end it doesn’t feel like Inferno Squad accomplished anything worthwhile. ||Yes, the Dreamers are dead, but so is Seyn. And Lux is still alive. So he could just go to the Rebellion and give them the same info.|| In the grand scheme of things, they didn’t really stop any big threat to the Empire.

The characters were fine. It’s weird to be sympathizing with Imperials, but they did show growth (except Gideon, fuck that guy) and understanding of the Dreamers.

It’s been too long since I’ve watched a play through of Battlefront II to remember if it connects to the game at all, but the book was all right. Although if I never have to read Christie Golden’s obsession with making every humanoid character hot, it will still be too soon 🙄

I love Sherlock Holmes. He’s so extra.

Like all anthologies, this has its good and bad stories. I absolutely loved The Yellow Face (despite its racist title and plot points), but I found The Gloria Scott quite boring. Silver BlazeThe Resident Patient and The Naval Treaty were fine. The Final Problem was… disappointingly short and lacking details.

Also I discovered that Conan Doyle isn’t as clever as he wants us to believe. The whole reasoning behind The Musgrave Rituals doesn’t hold for a mystery that is supposedly 200 years old. A tree would have grown plenty in that time. And referring to the length of a shadow from the sun would require you to calculate which day the clue was written, and to figure out when the sun would be in that exact position.

I did really like this version of Mycroft. If Sherlock is coded autistic, his brother is the very definition of the word, and it was a pleasure to read.

Despite the ups and downs, I am still a big fan of the original stories, which are (in my opinion) much better than any adaptation could ever hope.

That was one hell of a roller coaster!

A little disappointed we didn’t get an official polycule, but the end bodes well for that 😏 Disaster lesbians in space is a good look for Star Wars.

The ending was so dark though. Damn. The whole Frankenstein thing was a bit much. Didn’t love the reveal, but I get it. We’ll see how Aphra plays it out (and if the girls come to save her yet again…)

Oh that was GOOD! Aphra flirting with Torvan was perfect. I love what they have going on.

And Hera!! I wish we could’ve seen Chopper too, but even just Hera was really cool.
