This was awesome. It's had overtones of N.K. Jemisin and a strong waft of Leigh Bardugo's Ninth House. I will definitely be following this trilogy.

Love it! Great comic ☺️ Wild adventure, fascinating sci-fi, unsettling connections to our current world. I absolutely want to read the next books in the series.

It's fine. There are golden lines scattered throughout. It's just that it's so obvious.

That was a seriously trippy book. Absolutely wild. You've got to really want to finish this one. It took me several weeks (admittedly during a very busy time of year) because it's not the kind of book that properties you from page to page, but i did always want to know what happened next.

Very creative. To be honest, often confusing. But it's deeply original in it's way.

If you're looking for a quick murder mystery thriller that will keep you reading, this book is it. The before and after times combined with alternating points of view keep you turning pages, although I would have preferred fewer povs, I think.

Definitely keep me reading.

Luke most modern Japanese fiction I've read, it was slow and quietly beautiful. The descriptions of onsen and izakaya and Tokyo and Osaka made me deeply miss Japan.

Some female translators we're discussing the absurdity of having a man translate this specific book. I agree.

Made me want to read in Japanese.

This was an excellent follow up to The Extraordinaries, particularly when it comes to addressing the concerns readers had about the portrayal of police in the first story. If anything, some of that felt a little heavy handed.

But it's interesting, funny, dramatic, sex positive and so so so very gay.

Complex, interesting. I'm a fan of a nice slow burn Stephen King novel. It's sad and sometimes scary, but only because he wipes real stuff about real people.
