Very light book that would be enjoyed by the target audience.

It definitely lacked substance and would be enjoyable for readers age 5-10

I would probably watch the anime, though the manga was just lackluster. Granted, I do not tend to read a lot of manga (I got more for novels and graphic novels), but I overall found the plot to be confusing and not super gripping.

This wasn't terrible, jut not my cup of tea. I don't plan on reading the rest of it anyway.

This was solidly mid for me, which is a shame.
I think the main reason for this was due to the main character, Persephone. She was just such a manic pixie dream girl I literally could not focus on anything else. The way the characters were drawn was also a little bit off-putting.

Otherwise, I liked all the characters, though they did seem shallow (though that might be the point). However, I sometimes had trouble telling a few of the characters apart due to similar faces and similar coloring. If I see the next one in my library, I might pick it up since it's super popular, but I wouldn't go out of my way to read it.

This book is so heartwrenching and difficult to get through, but a fantastic read nonetheless.
I cannot believe how many times this book made me angry at the adults in these lives who are supposed to be taking care of these kids, but whether it is the casual or overt racism from teachers or the abuse from a parent, it harms these kids in so many ways. Luckily, many of these individuals get what is coming to them, but not without causing immense harm to those around them.

The ending is not tied up in a neat bow though it is quite satisfying.

This book is a definite reread.

Cliff-hanger?? RUDE!
I do like this series and I will finish it, but it’s not my favorite (especially this one) because it seemed pretty jokey for the majority. Maybe it’s because I read it as opposed to audiobook that it didn’t quite hit the same. Regardless, ready for the next one!
