I feel like the writing has improved after so many books. However, considering this is the last book in the flesh and fire series, it was disappointing to see a boring “war”. Leaving off this book without getting any sort of knowledge as to why Sera was devastated and had to go into stasis in the “present” of the blood and ash series also fucks with my head. Overall, I’m just upset with how we close this series(f&f), considering it was far more enjoyable than the main series(b&a).

The only reason this book isn’t five stars is solely because it’s in third person and I always struggle with this type of writing. Although I struggled with it, it got me hooked and made me continue wantng to read. I’ll definitely be getting the audiobook just to see if I like it better that way Darby’s thought process was so relatable during the book. I think that’s probably why I liked it so much.

This had me in a chokehold. Started this at 10pm and finished by 11am the next morning. I kept pointing fingers everywhere and the plot twist made me gasp. I loved this so much

I really loved book 2&3. This one felt a lot like book 1. Jaxon felt like another version of Carter and this book also felt unnecessarily long just like Carter’s book. The only thing that saved it for me was the fact that I love Garett and Adam so much and loved reading about them often enough.

This held my attention the whole time. I finished it in half a day and wish I would’ve read slower so I could’ve caught all the 🚩🚩🚩but I was just so excited to get to the end. My only issues was that the way it’s written, it’s being narrated to us and at times I would get frustrated with the 3rd person POV.

I had a hard time remembering which of them was the male considering my ex’s name was Braxton & he was male. 💀
The whole hate go love trope was overcome too easily. I did love that this was a quick read though.

I loved Zayne as a character, especially since reading Layla & Roth’s book. I always read Jen’s books so quickly because her writing is so simple. These female characters are just lacking a personality.

My biggest issue going into this was how the writing made me feel like I was reading a history book. I’m sure thats what the author intended but the narrator made the story come alive. I've never seen a single episode of GOT so I went in totally blind into this and was in shock at the amount of incest in this. 🥲 Other than that, the story was entertaining and really well written.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 42%.
I decided to stop reading this at 42%.
I adore Persephone & Hades but I can’t stand them in this retelling. Which is a shock to me because the development they got from book 1 was wiped when continuing to book 2. Persephone was just immature & her actions were always so contradictory. Hades was just *there*.

I loved B&B so much more. Rowan and Sloane had so much chemistry and this had the potential to be that or better but fell short. I feel like Lachlan and Lark’s feelings were (OBVIOUSLY) forced. There was so much potential for this forced proximity trope, but they just lacked chemistry.
Lachlan wanting Lark’s forgiveness came out of thin air. There isn’t a significant moment where he sees something in her that makes him want a real relationship with her. His change of heart about their relationship was just so confusing.

100% loved the book because of Ethel and her scheming.
