 My Review:

This book was one horrible hot mess from beginning to end. I am honestly baffled by the five stars and how any reader could find this even a decent book. This author just keeps getting worse with each book and her cynicism towards the male gender is becoming more and more obvious in her writing. I really gave this up to over 90% of the book and the moment we got to the grovel, which literally made me actually sick, I DNF this one. I just don't understand what the author was doing here with this book. The first half was so angsty and full of conflict and then right when I thought things were going to go smoothly for our couple, then the grovel happens and it literally went from a solid 4 star to a DNF. The way the heroine is with the hero, how she demeans him during the grovel and practically abuses him, and forcing the hero to literally beg on his knees. It was practically a copy cat of the previous book in many respects lol It lacked authenticity, creativity or even original thought. And the grandma scene was not necessary and not what I was looking for in the finale of the series. This author deserves this rating because this book deserves such a rating and I hope she learns to improve her writing and actually write good satisfactory endings like what she wrote in the beginning of the series.
After the Music by Christine Feehan

 My Review:

After The Music is the perfect book to kick off into the Autumn spooky season we are about to head into. I am not sure why I put this book off as long as I did but I found it truly fascinating. It had so many great things to the story overall. I loved the gothic theme to it, the almost haunted castle manor that the hero lives on in a island, then we have the theme of the Christmas season, with a blend of beauty and beast in a way. There is a solid haunting almost musical theme to the story. We also have such a tortured hero in this one and man he is the KING of broody heroes.

The setup is the the hero was married to a young woman who went crazy when she got consumed by ritualistic religion that was obsessive and cultish. They had two young children together, but when the hero lost his wife in the fire and got burned horribly in the attempt to save his children, he became a recluse and hid away. The heroine, Judith, is one of his closest childhood friends and the guardian over his children with him not capable of raising them. But when some dangerous things start to occur, she takes advantage of the Christmas season, to bring the children to their father, no matter how much he may protest, he is the best protection they have with their lives in danger.

Judith and Dillon reconnect and their chemistry burns just beneath the surface. We see that chemistry build, they really have some slight angst with each other, but really they just need to burn off some off their angst lol I loved the kids and the other members of the band that are part of the story. The villain was a true surprise, not who I expected at all.

The only downside to the story was the pacing. I was actually shocked I was struggling with a Feehan so much. I think part of this is more a reader issue than necessarily a book issue. I have really been struggling with reading lately and some of that is health issues. So I wouldn't be surprised if that is a big part of that. But I believe I have completed Feehan's backlist so lets CELEBRATE THAT!!! haha

 Novella Review:

I really had a fun time with this one. I don't think K.Webster can write a bad book haha this one was quite different from anything I have read from her until now. And I liked that it was short sexy and sweet. It had a very balanced dynamic and literally had me going from laughing to crying all in one page. It had a cool setup. I just love auction themes, not sure why, but they draw me in like candy. I loved the second chance, the emotional trauma and pain that they need to work through and the smexy moments that just fit this pair's dynamic. I really love that Webster writes such a variety and you never know what you can expect until you read it. And I can't wait to read more of these short ones.

First Impressions
When She Unravels is the first book in the "Fallen" series by Gabrielle Sands. This is a mafia romance that has a more traditional feel to the mafia world. So if you are like and prefer the more traditional style of mafia romance, then this book is definitely for you. This book had a mix of edgy suspense and psychological abuse elements but the banter was very light hearted at times, so the author was able to really balance all elements together that just made it work so well together. There are many great tropes that are brought together in this one and there is a quick intense connection between our two protagonists that just sucked me in so quickly. This was also a story that I was unable to put down, so if you are looking for a book to captivate your attention, then I highly recommend this one here.

First Line
Mamma married one of the most important New York City dons when she was only eighteen.

The Main Protagonists
 The Hero: Damiano
 The Heroine: Valentina

Summary
Valentina is married to one of her father's enforcers and a man who is not stable mentally and he brings her into his world and forces her to do things that is destroying all the good inside of her. When she is brought to a opportunity to save a life and a fresh start, she takes the chance to start fresh even if that means giving up all that she knows. She ends up on a greek island....Ibiza. A island known for its all night partying atmosphere, she is able to get a job working for the most powerful man on the island, Damiano. There is a powerful connection and chemistry that builds between them, but when the truth comes out, Damiano and Valentina will have to work through their issues and face up to the struggles and determine if their love is strong enough...

What I Loved
I just couldn't get enough of this book and I am so glad that I took a chance on this one. Jenn @ The Book Refuge has raved about this series, and even though we don't always see eye to eye on books, she was definitely spot on for this one. I was so drawn into this one here and I couldn't get enough of it. I wanted to just consume this book. I literally read this under 2 hours, that is how much I was swept away by this story. I felt so hard for this heroine and what she has to go through but I was cheering her on when she finally made the right decision even at the risk of her own life. I love that she stands strong on her choice. The romance that builds between Valentina and Damiano was so intense and captivating and I was so drawn in on it. Damiano is such a alpha male, loves to be in control of everything in his sphere and I found it sexy as all get out. Valentina knows when to stand on her own and when to give in, I liked that she wasn't a stupid heroine, but weighed out her options. I was so intrigued to see how it would be developed. And even though I wasn't a fan of some aspects of what happens after the reveal, once it gets resolved, I loved seeing what this pair becomes together.

What I Struggled With
The third act conflict. When her identity is revealed and the connection she has to his sister, while my heart broke for her, I didn't understand why she wasn't honest with him once the truth was starting to come out ...this is where she does make some dumb decisions. I get that she is on the run for her life, but she had to know that he would protect her if he knew the truth. In fact she doesn't tell him anything and I would have liked her to stand on her own feet and be transparent with him, because he deserved that with the trouble she could bring to his doorstep. And I just wasn't a fan of the angst that develops in the third act between them.

Overall View
When She Unravels is a thrilling addictive romance that was an compelling page turner that melted my heart from the first page. Its a story of thrills, real human issues and learning to overcome adversity in a poignant way. A TRUE KEEPER!

 My Review:

I decided not to stick with this book here, the heroine was too annoying. She drove me up the wall and I hated how she was with the hero. Yes she was kidnapped, but she had a character of being so hard and unrelenting and filled with spite. It was highly unlikeable and I will be honest in that she is the primary reason I DNF this one. I am actually surprised Heard wrote such an unlikeable heroine and it was even more disappointing as the previous books were so wonderful to read and I feel so bad for the hero in getting such a bad story for himself. He definitely deserves better than this one.

 Quickie Review:

I really had a good time with Seducing Lauren. It wasn't as good as the first book, the pacing in the book was on and off. The first half started off really really strong and I didn't want to put it down. But in the second half, it was much more challenging to stay into the story and be truly invested. I did love the idea of a lawyer hero with a romance author for a heroine who is also at risk of being in danger from her ex. I found the dynamic between them interesting, loved their soft filled relationship. I do find Proby's writing style in how the pair doesn't fight too long what they feel, but seem to embrace their connection. I did find the plot aspect of the ex and how its portrayed throughout the story. I loved the endearing connection that they had together. Really beautifully done despite the issues on the pacing of the story growth.

 Quickie Review-

This I saw as the adapted film by Pasionflix and I was really impressed with it here. There is a great deal of deep emotion that is portrayed, we see some powerful chemistry and is one of the better adaptations that Passionflix has done to date. It was the least cheese that I have seen from them and very authentic in the emotion. It had a high quality to how the story was portrayed. I think fans of the story will be very impressed with how well it was adapted. I can see why this one is such a fan favorite for romance readers. And if you love contemporary romance, small towns with light elements of suspense, then I can recommend this one to you.

First Impressions
Embers in the Snow was a really fun fantasy romance. Its been a while since I have read a good fantasy, and while this wasn't perfect, it was solid, plot well done and had some unique elements to it that really made it work. The trope of the story is what really had me going for this book because it had one of my favorite tropes in it. I was really drawn into so many aspects of this story. The world building was highly unique and I loved the whole vampire/naturistic witch pairing that we have that ended up being fated mates ironically.

First Line
Something must be afoot, because I've been summoned.

The Main Protagonists
 The Hero: Corvan Duthriss
 The Heroine: Finley

What I Loved
Embers in the Snow had a beginning that really set the tone of the story. I found the character growth to be beyond captivating. The way that Corvan and Finley connect from the beginning was intriguing and you can sense their bond very quickly. They both embrace what they feel for each other and don't fight it too hard. The focus of consent is pretty highly focused. What brings these two together was endearing but what really did it for me is seeing what they become in the second half of the story. There is a strong sense of team work in this one and you really get the impression that they will fight for each other no matter what it takes. The connection with the heroine being a forest like witch was beyond fascinating. We see all the development in her character in discovering her heritage and its really beautiful how the hero stands by her through it all and only encourages her to embrace that side of herself. I absolutely adored how protective the hero was for Finley, but also was her true companion and the moments between Corvan and Finley's mother was pretty awesome. I love how she saw the goodness in Corvan, even though he saw only the monster inside him.

What I Struggled With
There were a few things that I had a hard time with this one. The first is being the length of this book. It really isn't the type of fantasy that needed to be longer than 300-400 pages. It felt too dragged out in moments. There was also too many modernisms in this one. For a fantasy, some of the modern dialogue only showed how immature the world building is for a fantasy. It felt like the author was writing some type of futuristic contemporary instead of an actual epic fantasy romance world. Also the clothing described in the story is not what you would expect for a high fantasy world in any way. There were some aspects that just didn't fit with the world the author crafted and it ended up being more confusing and detracting the enjoyment of the story.

Overall View
Embers in the Snow was a enjoyable fascinating romance that brought some wonderful elements of a arranged marriage trope to blend in beautiful with a fantasy world. Eager to see what else this author has crafted.

Favorite Quote(s)
He takes from me. He takes, and brings the wild magic in me to heel. The branches and vines slowly unfurl, releasing me, but I don’t fall. I’m in his arms. And he’s kissing me, holding me. Knowing me. I let go, but I don’t fall.

There are no guarantees in life, zelie. None. No one knows what’s going to happen years from now, bu I believe in commitment and loyalty. loyalty is everything to me. to betray you in that way goes against every code I have

First Impressions
Whew this book completely blew me away! This actually be one of my favorites of Feehan and the favorite of this book. I didn't think anything could top Savage Road or Judgement Road for me but this one might take the cake. That is how much I adored this book. It just was perfect in just about every way and It struck a chord of heart and feeling that I completely Feehan to deliver each and every time! I know some readers might be thrown off by the secrets that are involved in this couple, but I absolutely couldn't get enough and she handled this conflict so well. Its what I appreciate about Feehan, she handles conflict in a way that seems real and not overblown in dramatics. It was so smoothly mastered that just reflects her true talent as an author.

I enjoy reading romance. Happy endings. Stories about men and women communicating and forming families. Being faithful to each other.

The Main Protagonists
 The Hero: Andrii "Maestro" Federoff
 The Heroine: Azelie Vargas

Summary
Betrayal Road is a story that begins with our hero, Maestro, who is working with his club and brothers to bring down a trafficking ring that they have been working on years on bringing down. But they haven't been able to do it ....yet until a piece to the puzzle falls into place, and that piece is Azelie. Azelie works for the head of the ring, as his accountant or at least one of them. Azelie is working hard at her degree, and still recovering from the trauma of losing her family in a brutal attack and barely surviving herself. When she meets Maestro, in a coffee shop, she instantly connects with this man of mystery. She can't understand why he would want to be with her, but she wants to give into her heart when it comes to him. But she is drawn into a game of cat and mouse with her employer and Maestro keeping secrets from her, but learning to trust in him despite the reason that tells her she shouldn't....

That’s how you see me, Azelie. As a man who would break your heart? Not treat you with care and consideration, a treasure like you deserves? Because I know what a treasure you are

What I Loved
Betrayal Road is a story that worked for me in every way and I can't tell you how nervous I was with it. Now I shouldn't have been so nervous because its Christine Feehan, and she doesn't have issues with writing conflicts so well and it definitely remained true in Betrayal Road. I appreciated what a complex story she was able to write but yet have the conflict evolve so naturally and have such a smooth transition. There is a major conflict of a big secret. Maestro is having to use Azelie to get to her boss, who is a human trafficker. But Azelie is not who everyone thinks she is. Maestro so determined that this will be another job, can't resist his pull to Azelie or the connection that they have together. He falls SUPER hard for Azelie and it was a pure delight to watch. Throughout the series, this hero has been a bit stubborn about true love existing and causing some problems with previous couples but he definitely feels the sting of cupid's arrow and I was beyond entertained to see it happen.

I would kill for you, but I would never do anything to harm you. You’re my savior. My world. A treasure beyond any price. If things go bad between us, I would move heaven and earth to make them right. I would never, under any circumstances, consider harming you

Another aspect to the story that I really enjoyed was the alpha male/smart yet feminine pairing that we see develop. I really loved Azelie because she has a brain and is smart but she ALSO isn't afraid to embrace her femininity. She wants to be loving and soft and giving to others. We see her growth in learning to truly embrace that part of her, and seeing that it is a TRUE STRENGTH!!! I also valued the brotherhood of the club here and the lady bikers of the group really putting in their two cents and standing for Azelie. I valued how they truly come together and even when they have differing opinions, have such a solid support of each other. This is something that Feehan handles so so well and its so beautifully portrayed in Betrayal Road.

What I Struggled With
Honestly....NOTHING!! haha Only thing that would have been better is a extended epilogue of some happy couple time after all the conflicts happening with the plot.

Overall View
Betrayal Road is a story that enthralls your attention with sensual romance, edgy plot building and a relationship that will capture your heart and dig deep in a complete cycle of true human intimacy! POWERFULLY GRAVITATING!

That meant something to her. Faint color crept under her skin, and her eyes took on a glow. He didn’t wait a moment longer, his palm tightening around her neck when he leanred dow to brush his lips over hers.
The earth moved under him. The room spun away. There was nothing but the two of them. He had kissed women. Hundred. Maybe more. A requirement of his training. Since he’d been a free man, kissing was off limits. Kissing was too intimate and he didn’t enjoy it---or want it. Now it was a need. An addiction. An obsession...She was his obsession.
