All the Ugly and Wonderful Things by Bryn Greenwood
2.0
I don’t care that this has a controversial love story - it’s not okay in real life and I’m no more sympathetic to that kind of relationship after reading this.
No. Pedophilia is not okay. Period.
However, I finished the book merely because I started it and it was kind of boring. Too much telling and not enough showing. The imagery was lacking. It was mostly people’s POV and very conversational. Not what I appreciate in books.
Meh is how I put it.

Just delicious. Everything I needed in a book. So flipping good.

I loved every minute of this book. It was scrumptious.
The characters were well developed. Flawed like-able, and incredibly complex. There was no black and white in this book.
I got sucked in and couldn’t put it down.

One by One by Ruth Ware

When you’re more interested in the app in the book than the thriller, it’s not a great book.
I liked the setting, I liked the tone, but nothing else.
The characters were one dimensional and the point of view shifts weren’t the best.
It’s been a real miss with Ware except for one of her books, so I just may not be a Ware fan.

This book was beautiful. One of the best books I’ve read in a long time. It was such a heartwarming and heartbreaking story.
It’s such a great depiction of history and it also tackles racial issues that are still happening around us today.
Cussy is such an amazing character that I rooted for whatever happened to her the whole time.

The Sun Down Motel by Simone St. James
I couldn’t put this one down. Spooky. Creepy. Inventive. Incredibly wild ride.
I didn’t see any of what happened coming and I loved every minute!

An Inquiry Into Love and Death by Simone St. James
4.0
Solid book. I would give this 3.5, but I’m rounding it up to 4.
It’s obvious this one of St. James’ first books, her newest books are much better.
However, it’s clear that she is a very great storyteller. This book had wonderful characters, an interesting plot, spooky ghosts, romance, and a murder mystery.
I am now enamored with this author and will be reading everything she has ever written.

Dark. Twisted. Messed up.
The beginning was pretty slow to me, but then it picked up and was a wild ride. I enjoyed it, and honestly the graphic nature didn’t bother me. Maybe I’m just twisted myself.
