The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
5.0
Beautiful. Enchanting. Addicting. Heartwarming. Heartbreaking. Wistful.
I cannot say enough about this book. I loved it from start to finish. The best book I’ve read in a long time.

A beautiful love story, but I was meh about it.
It’s always hard when it’s one sided. The big reveal was a good one, but the whole thing just seemed, I don’t know.
I have read so many better romance books. This one is good, but not the best. I’ve preferred other books by Christina Lauren more.

Everything a romance should be, fun characters, sexy moments, interesting plot twists.
When I read the end notes that the author said this book is a metaphor for writer’s block, it just enriched it so much more. Well done!

Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Solid book. 3.5-4 stars.
This one didn’t move me like Evelyn Hugo did. I won’t lose sleep at night. I won’t be haunted by the story.
I think it fell flat due to the format. I didn’t feel the “love” grow and didn’t see it between the characters.
This book would have been so much better had one person told it or had it been in third person instead of the interview format.

Meh. I’ve read way better. I finished it but if this was my first Christina Lauren, I wouldn’t read another.
The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware

Great until the middle and then it kind of fell... flat.
And there were quite a few plot holes that didn’t add up.
Not the best Ware, but by far not the worst. Just not amazing.

The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez

A sweet romance and I loved the addition of the infertility story, especially since it was written with permission from the author’s best friend.
The part I really struggled with in the book was with Tyler. He served no purpose other than to drive the point home that Kristin couldn’t have kids and I found myself often ticked because of the infidelity Kristin showed to a man who was serving overseas.
Emotional affairs are real and she was cheating. She was not faithful to her relationship and I disliked that the author tried to downplay the affair by making Kristin believe she was settling for Tyler.
It’s one of those times where I wish the author would have given the main character consequences for her actions. It was entirely disappointing just from that standpoint.
The rest of the book was great and I would have given it 4 stars, but I give it 3.5, rounded down because this book glorifies it being okay to cheat on a significant other while they are serving in the military and it happens far too often in real life, leaving those men devastated.

In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren

It is a romance, it’s sweet, uses tropes well, and holiday themed. A better one from Lauren, so I was pleased.
