Everyone But Myself: A Memoir by Julie Chavez

I picked this book thinking this would be a lighthearted book with some funny anecdotes about mom life and putting others first. This was not what I thought I’d be reading and in the deep part of her depression and crying all the time, I wanted to stop reading it. I eventually made it through as the author also made it through her depression. I ended up rating this book a 3 because I take partial blame for not realizing what this book was going to be about.

Cute book. I liked the different take on romance, I felt it didn’t follow standard script but still provided the HEA. It was missing the spice for me, but was still a good and easy read.

I liked this book, but I didn’t love it. I liked all the references to Sacramento, being from Sac it was nice to be able to visualize exactly where the characters were. The writing was fine, the characters were fine, the plot was fine, everything was just fine. Nothing about the book made me hate it, I enjoyed reading it, but I wasn’t in LOVE IT with it.
