Nothing wrong with it really but this was my least favorite of them. The cats were an obnoxious element

They didn't do a great job of trying to make Dara a likable character, Ali's initial chapters were super slow & it took me a long time to get a concept of the world & political structure. The book overall was good, it was justified very slow but I am interested enough to keep reading the rest of the series. I like Nahri as a character & liked the relationship she built w/ Alli & there a decent amount of foreshadowing & mystery to keep me curious about the rest of the story, it just felt like a set up for the rest of the series.

Emily Henry always gets me right in the feels. Her books are always so bittersweet & don't shy away from the hard things in life and how to find the happiness with in them. I never feel more at peace with life than I do after reading an Emily Henry Book

Kinda slower, I wasn't as enraptured as I was w/ the first one & again was kinda annoyed with some of Xaden & Violet's conflicts but overall it was a good continuation of the story.

This book had so many good insights but all of the actual stories were focused on correcting men's behavior & heavil focused on childhood drama & I felt the scenarios were oversimplified & cheesy in their retelling. The comments on racism & the patriarchy & covid felt out of place and like performative activism & I think it could turn a lot of people off from the book who could potentially benefit from it.

I got so sucked in so fast. I don't think the author was great at transitioning scenes & sometimes I'd definitely be like wait how the heck did we get here but the next scene would suck you in so fast you'd totally forget about it. Also kinda annoyed w/ Violet at the end of the book because I feel like she is overreacting to reasons that make a lot of sense & she already had an understanding that secrets were being kept.
Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts: Seven Questions to Ask Before--And After--You Marry by Les And Leslie Parrott

The book was interesting & good, It wasn't super eye opening but it was helpful to hear the most common problems laid out without all the nuance of your individual relationship. Would have given it 5 stars except I don't like that they push the symbus assessment throughout the book which is another you have to pay for and it's not super accessible because it has to be done by a facilitator

I read Happy Place first & that book I really connected with so I feel like I am comparing this to Happy Place & it that regard it falls short. But I still really loved this book, I love how witty Emily Henry's characters are & how she accurately incorporated the complications & bittersweetness of real life.
