First, thanks to everyone who worked the Abrams booth at ALAAC19 for not being weirded out by me stalking the booth for this ARC, you were all angels.

Second, I can't stop crying? Spoiler free review - I also horribly broke up with my best friend senior year and this book is it. I have numerous passages highlighted and tabbed and I can't wait for this book to drop so I can talk to everyone about it and make all of my patrons read it.

I needed this when I was 17 and I still needed it today.

Again, but Better by Christine Riccio

Okay. So. This book is a thing that I read.

I'll start by saying that I had no idea who Christine Riccio was when I picked this up. I am an elderly 29 years old and do not really watch anything on YouTube except for movie trailers. Now that I've read other reviews I understand why this book exists and why it has a much higher rating than maybe it should.

I spent 90% of the book cringing and rolling my eyes. The writing is perfectly acceptable I guess? I finished it so obviously there was something that I found engaging. All of the pop culture references were suffocating - if Wrecking Ball got mentioned one more time I was going to start screaming and never stop. This book suffered a lot from telling, not showing. I like cheesy things that aren't necessarily good, but I don't know that I liked this book? It sort of felt like one of those movies that's just on and you're home sick on the couch and looking for any kind of noise to take your mind off your impending death.

The thing that happened in the middle of the book totally caught me off guard which I appreciated and it's probably what gave me the strength to continue after Blink 182 was called 'classic rock'.

I basically hated all of the characters but also I found myself cheering on Shane and hoping that she would realize her horrible taste in men and move on with things. Seriously, Pilot is garbage and I don't know if that was intentional or not. Don't trust a man named something so stupid.
