Fifteen Hundred Miles From The Sun by Jonny Garza Villa
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC! Sorry it took me 18 years to read!
I'm gonna be straight with you, I made it to chapter 30 and then I just skim read the rest. It wasn't bad, I just couldn't get into it. I'll definitely give Jonny Garza Villa's next book a try since there were a lot of elements I loved in this one, something about it just wasn't working for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins for the audio book ARC! I've never had an audio ARC before!
1. a robot read this to me and it was a weird experience!
2. 100% would die for Olivia. Give me your misunderstood side characters, I have so much room in my heart for all of them.
3. I have been generally over the "whoops I'm being blackmailed" genre for a bit now but this one didn't bother me. I don't know what it had that other books with this story line was missing, but I think it was that the blackmailers actually had to face consequences instead of just being like "oh sorry" and getting away with it. I wanted Quinn's mom to drag those girls straight to hell
4. I was really, really surprised to learn that this was a debut? Joya Goffney is going to do great things.
5. I genuinely enjoyed this book. Goffney really captured that "end of senior year who am I what is happening the future is a horrifying black hole" feeling.

I don't really know what to say about this book other than that it was great and you should read it.

This book was a lot of fun and honestly kind of perfect for me and my personal taste. Can't wait for the second one! Also, a movie would be neat...
Take this book for what it is - a YA book (which means the protag is a teenager!! and acts like one!!) that's genuinely a good time and not overly concerned with the dark reality of the world we're living in.

Trouble Girls by Julia Lynn Rubin
Listen, I didn't hate this book but... I did not really like it. Thoughts I had while reading this book - a list I made as I went that is now the review:
1. Yes queen stab him again, we absolutely love to see it.
2. This does not need to be a romance but I know it's going to become a romance. And I'm saying that as someone who loves romance.
3. Am I losing my mind or is the word 'hog' used in like every other sentence?
4. I'm sorry, is Lux your bff or your child?
5. I do not understand why these girls are even friends?
6. Seriously, Lux has zero personality?? She likes makeup and has a vintage camera! The author addressed Lux being seen as a manic pixie dream girl but then also put zero effort into giving her a personality outside of her quirky pink hair and love of photography. And these two seem to have nothing in common? I'm pretty sure they're only friends because they grew up near each other and that under normal circumstances they would stop speaking to each other after graduation (which appears to be a fear Trixie also had sooooo) but sure, they're in love.
7. My late 20s/early 30s readers - remember when you were in high school and you acted like you were edgy as fuck when you wore your studded belt and talked about drinking that awful blue vodka over the weekend in a field somewhere? That's the vibe of this whole book for some reason. There were actual crimes committed and the vibe is bragging to your friends about getting tickets to the Good Charlotte concert.
8. Me, over 60% of the way through: omg something is happening! Me, 2 pages later: nevermind, that was resolved immediately because ??
9. I just want the stakes to be higher. I just want to feel like there are actually stakes at all. I can tell that the author is really trying to build the tension at this point in the book but she's still focusing on the same 'no food, no gas, no money, better have sex' cycle that's been the entire book instead of 'oh shit the police'.
This one just didn't work for me. The ending is a wonderful way to tell whether you're an optimist, pessimist, or nihilist though!

So I only read this because I initially almost read that YA book that completely ripped this off and decided instead of reading something plagiarized I would read the real thing instead!
While I am a big manga fan I have never read a romance manga before and didn't really know what I was getting myself into - but this was good! Very cute! I spent most of the time wishing they would just communicate better, but 1. teenagers and 2. boys so really, they were doing the best they could and they figured it out eventually.

I didn't realize that this was Austin-ish until one of the characters straight up told me lmao I'm bad at my job.
This was cute! I love happy rom coms and I think astrology is neat and this was exactly what I needed to welcome me back to reading after being trapped under a pile of major depression for the past several months. Was it a life changing, profound read? Nah, but it was a lot of fun and that's just as important.

Hi hello I haven't read a book in two months. This one was so pretty and floriography is my jam.
My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, Vol. 8 by Hideyuki Furuhashi
Gently weeping over the back story because I'm caught up on the main series, it's fine.
My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, Vol. 9 by Hideyuki Furuhashi
A delightful volume in which no one died horrifically and had their corpse essentially stripped for parts to create a powerful villain that would, 14 years later, continue to traumatize their already severely traumatized best friends in new and surprising ways.
Once again I do not actually care about the main plot of this series and am only here for the back story.
Laughs in anguish.
