Audiobook read by the author, which is probably now I'm going to read all memoirs from now on if I have the option. Hilarious and dishy. Also, satisfied my curiosity for weird cult stories.

There are elements of this book that make me think I'd probably like Older's adult-oriented novels more. His characters all feel alive and he does a good job building his Brooklyn without front-loading or over-explaining, like a lot of fantasy can. Perhaps he leaves too much of the plot for the last ten pages, but I won't fault him there.

I think my rating has more to do with realizing that YA probably isn't for me than the quality of the writing. There's nothing wrong with this book and a lot to recommend it, I'm just not the target audience. That's ok. More books for their people.
